Since the Ilya Kovalchuk trade, the Atlanta Thrashers are 2-1-2. All things considered, that's a decent record. With the post-Olympic schedule giving the Thrashers plenty of time at home, the team has an opportunity to make a big statement.

altFirst it was the Kovalchuk #17 jersey, now the Lehtonen #32 jersey gets shuffled to the back of the closet.

Kari Lehtonen was traded to the Dallas Stars for defenseman Ivan Vishnevskiy and a fourth round selection in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft

Dallas selected Vishnevskiy, a Barnaul Russia native, in the first round, 27th overall, in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft.  Vishnevskiy will report to the Chicago Wolves of the AHL.

altThe next three games on the Thrashers schedule will be critical in trying to ease into one of the bottom Eastern Conference playoff spots, with dates on the road at Colorado (Wed.), Minnesota (Fri.), and Chicago (Sat.) staring the new-look Thrashers in the face.

Currently sitting in the 11th spot at 25-24-8 on the season for 58 points, just three points separate the Thrashers from the Canadians and the 6th spot.
