This is a bit of a surprise to me.  With all the emmense changes in almost every coaching position, I thought the most obvious change would be at the QB position, however, according to Mike Shanahan, he'll be tendered an offer.  "Yeah, we'll tender an offer for Jason next week."  Jason Campbell is also expected to be present at the minicamp.

There have been some more changes in the coaching staff.

·         The new wide receiver's coach is Keenan McCardell.  McCardell played in the NFL for 17 years as a WR, playing his final season with the Redskins in 2007.

·         Richard Hightower is the Special Teams Assistant Coach.  Hightower previously coached special teams with the Houstan Texans from 2007-2008 as the assistant.

·         Steve Jackson is the new Safeties coach.   Jackson previously worked with the Redskins and had a hand in getting the late Sean Taylor into 2 pro bowls.

·         Sean McVay is the new Offensive Assistant, who was with the undefeated UFL Florida Tuskers

I think it's appauling that London Fletcher, in his 12 year career, has  never been to the Pro Bowl.  Thanks to the Saints' win last night, that's exactly where he's heading, along with Rookie Brian Orakpo.
Fletcher's most outstanding stat is his 192 consective games.  He is only second to Brett Favre, who is 5 years older than him.  Fletcher led the Redskins' D with 172 tackles (104 solo), 2 sacks, 1 interception and a forced fumble last year.  He is also a finalist for the "2009 Walter Payton Man of the Year."  This guy is a pro bowler all the way.

If this is any indication of who will be playing for the Redskins next year, get prepared for buying new jerseys!  It was announced during Mike Shanahan's press conference that his son, Kyle, would be joining the coaching staff as well, but was not official until yesterday.

Kyle Shanahan joins the Redskins as the new Offensive Coordinator (replacing Sherman Smith).  Kyle was the Houston Texans' offensive coordinator for the last 2 years.

The Redskins have also hired Matt LaFleur as the new Quarterback coach (replacing Jim Zorn's work) and Jon Embree as the new Tight Ends coach (replacing Scott Wachenheim).  LaFleur was with the Houston Texans the last two seasons as offensive assistant. Embree was with the Kansas City Chiefs from 2006-2008 as TE coach.

That's a LOT of AFC coaches so far!
