Jevon Kearse Charged with DUI

category

As it has been stated repeatedly in the past, nothing good happens at 4AM, especially if your a professional athlete.  Kearse was arrested just outside Vanderbilt University for driving erratically and speeding.  There were two other car occupants.  The car was released to one of the occupants who was not intoxicated.

I don’t have a problem with athletes going out and having a good time and even getting “liquored up” on occasion.  Just use your noodle and have someone else drive the car home.  Hire a limo, walk, call a Taxi.  I’m continually surprised at how this continues to happen week after week and sometimes day after day.

I’ve never met Jevon Kearse but from what I hear he is a good guy and hasn’t had any previous incidents with the police.  Hopefully this will be his last.  As I have previously written, there has been a great vibe around the time this year and I’m sure the Titans will move on from this distraction.

Titans Players and Coaches involved in Charity Work Before Camp Begins

category

I have to admit it is nice to deal with positive stories about the Titans instead of 3 years of turmoil concerning a certain current Dallas Cowboy.  The Titans will be holding their 10th annual Charity Golf Classic on June 23rd which will benefit the Titans Foundation.  It has raised over $1.2 million dollars since its inception.  The Foundation supports many non-profit organizations throughout Tennessee.

The Jeff Fisher and Friends Charity Softball Game will be held on June 28th in Nashville.  This event has raised over $300,000 in the past, and benefits several middle tennessee charities including the Second Harvest Food Bank.

Past players have included Eddie George, Vince Young, Chris Hope, Frank Wycheck, Brad Hopkins, Keith Bulluck, and many more past and present Titans players and coaches.

MusicCityMusings

The Titans have added a safety to their roster signing Rocky Schwartz out of Houston.  The Titans now have 88 players participating in their soon to be completed minicamp.

Mike Keith, play by play man for the Titans was recently named the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s 2008 Nashville Man of the Year.   Mike helped raise over $54,000 for research in a 10 week program.

The Titans have implimented Kettlebells to their offseason workout program.  Don’t know what a Kettlebell is?  Well, evidently it is  basically a bowling ball with a handle.  These grueling Wednesday workouts are designed to help with balance, unilateral balance, explosiveness.  Cortland Finnegan has one work for the workouts, torture.

See you all next time for some more MusicCityMadness

Ryan Fowler ,Titan Camp News and other Music City Madness

category

Multiple Media Outlets are reporting that starting Middle Linebacker, Ryan Fowler is under investigation for allegedly violating the NFL Steriods policy.  His name was evidently submitted to the FBI by convicted Steriods dealer, David Jacobs who committed suicide last week.  In a statement made by his lawyer it was stated that he would fight any suspension as he has not failed any drug test during his NFL career.  More on this story will be sure to develop.

The Titans have reached agreement with the St Louis Rams for a series of combined practices leading up to their preseason game on August 9th at LP Field.  The teams will practice together at the Titans training facility, Baptist Sports Park on August 6th and 7th.  The practices will be open to the public.

Eugene Amano, a five year veteran out of SE Missouri State, appears to be the front runner to replace departed free agent Jacob Bell at the Left Guard position.  The 6-3, 310 pound Amano is a very versatile lineman and has seen action at center and guard for the Titans.

Jake Scott, a free agent signee from the Colts, takes over the Right Guard position from the recently retired  Benji Olson.  The line remains deep in depth and Offensive Coordinator Mike Heimerdinger is confident that the line will play a large part in the success of the Titan offense this year as they are very physical and have good size and depth.

Heimerdinger has also been impressed with second year Wide Receiver  Paul Williams out of Fresno State.  Williams did not see any action last year as he could not break into the line up.  Williams came back to camp this year humbled and working hard and has made great strides as he sees this could be his last opportunity to remain in the NFL.  The Titans have a large pool of Wide Receivers to choose from this year so expect some veteran receivers to be cut before all is said and done.

Random Music City Madness

Yesterday concluded the CMA Fan Fest here in Nashville which is the weeklong Country Music Festival that includes many concerts in both small and large scale and events throughout the week.  I had the opportunity to go to Saturday nights concert at LP Field and had floor seating.  I had never been on the field itself at LP and standing on the 50 yard line and looking around at the immense stadium filled with people gave me an appreciation of what the athletes experience.  I can only imagine the pressure they feel when all 70,000 eyes are on them.
