I am not even going to waste my breathe on the last series with the Astros.  The Cubs took a loss early and then pumped them.  11 runs in two straight games..not much more to say other than super!

Now the Cubbies will look to keep rolling with a big series against the Cards.  Now I imagine you all have noticed I hate the Cubs more than any team in the league so not hard to imagine me saying the Cubs will take every game in this series.  However this should be a good one and would give the Cubs another boost from smoking the “other” good team team in their division.  If the Cubs could pull off a sweep of this series they would be feeling very very good about themselves headed down the stretch.

The pitching should be on the Cubs side for the whole series. Lilly, Zambrano and Dempster will take to the hill for the next 3 games with Looper, Wellemeyer and TBA on the other side of the ball.

The Cubs bounced back nicely after dropping the first game to Pittsburgh by taking the next 2 games to win the series.  To be honest I kind of expected a small let down after the series with the Brewers.  Hard to get back up to that same level of excitement against the Pirates. 

Now on tap the Cubs are against the Astros and lost last evening on a solid start from Ryan Dempster.  The Cubs couldn’t generate anything with their bats and will look to win with Rich Harden set to take the hill for the game tonight.

Anyone want to play the over/under on strikeouts for the new fella tonight?

Over or Under 9.5 K’s for Harden tonight?  I will take the over…like you knew I would

Well folks like I said the Cubs could make their road problem go away with a big series win over the Brewers and they did just that!

Not only did they beat the Brewers, they flat out hammered them and took all 4 games of the series on the road.  The Cubs pitching was just brilliant all series.  Lilly, Zambrano, Dempster, and Harden were just super.  All we have been hearing is how the Cubs can’t win on the road and how it will catch up to them.  Well like I said, I thought it was a matter of teams playing too many games and the road games are even more of a grind during the regular season.  If the Cubs can get up for the big road series then that is all that matters….well folks they made sure they got up for the Jays series (which was only big because I was in attendance) and the sure got up for this Brewers series.

Some debate was going on about Zambrano vs Sheets, and Harden vs. Sabathia….well I will take my Cubs.  Say what you want about how good CC is but Harden is lights out!  he has 39 strikeouts and has allowed just 3 runs in 24 1/3 innings since coming over to the Cubs for a 1.11 ERA and .90 WHIP.

Next up for the Cubs we have the Pirates who are fresh off trading away Jason Bay, and have Laroche out of the lineup which should spell trouble for them.  I have to go with nothing short of a 4 game sweep again
