A 4th of July in Green Bay - and of course the topic was ‘ball! With all the recent media coverage around the latest BF ‘rumours’, it was quite ironic that the Green Bay folks in charge of the fireworks would sync audio and the ‘crackers up together and find a way to get football and BF in there. About midway through various classics, “Ring of Fire” for instance we begin to hear the voice/person that is BF from the ‘retirement’ press conference. Then fireworks with the familiar Packer logo, then a #4 and a heart. This continued for at least a good 5-10mins. I had just said to my wife when will they start adding words or even letters into those things?… At any rate, given the most recent saga that has went down this past week its all too much with less than a month to go before official training camp and the preseason. It comes down to ‘he’ will come back for the Pack or ‘he’ won’t. Until someway, this whole thing can actually come to a concrete end I suppose we all have to wait for episode #1 of the new Mr. Rodgers Neighborhood - Green Bay edition to finally kickoff.

July 2nd, 2008 by Patrick MulroyOh boy…Here we go again. ESPN is reporting Brett may be thinking about coming back to play in 08. Nothing has been confirmed nor probably will be for days, if at all. It’s hard not to mention these ‘events’ which are related to football and are fav team - but really, until something is official why create a stir? This time of year to me, of course a newly retired star of Favre’ caliber would get the itch..thats a no brainer..But hey, he has had an awesome career as is held in high regard. Jordon, Gretzky - someday Tiger they all have there day. Bring on the Rodgers era and lets always fondly remember Brett and his legacy!
Packers send representatives to scout RB Kevin Jones

The AP has reported among other teams, the Packers sent an eye to watch former Detroit Lion RB Kevin Jones complete some drills. Jones, a former first round pick, has a history of knee problems but is now five months removed from major correction surgery.
There was an interesting article this morning on coach McCarthy and life away from the gridiron. Portions of this article may be available on greenbaypressgazette.com. Turns out Coach is alot like you and I and expecting a baby this November. Congrats to the coach and his new Mrs. on the upcoming arrival. I think story’s like this are very important to us fans as it gives us a chance to know that despite there chosen profession - these folks are just like us. Along with this story, the Press-Gazette also covered the emerging story of the two Thompson brothers (Orrin OL & Jeremy DL). Should they go on to play this year for the Packers, they would make the first brother combo to dawn the green and gold since 1939. Ironically enough, the Packers won the then NFL Championship over the New York Giants in Wisconsin back in ‘39! Here’s hoping history completely repeats itself right!?!
In general NFL news, the less talked about NFL Rookie Symposium gets underway today in Carlsbad, California and runs through Wednesday, July 2nd. This reminds me, Happy upcoming Canada Day to all back home this Tuesday!
This week, I plan on taking a crack at the upcoming regular season schedule with a short breakdown and game-by-game predictions - watch for it.
