Titans Stay Perfect with Win in Jacksonville 24-14

I can’t lie.  I expected the Titans to lose yesterday.  They can’ t go through the entire season undefeated or can they?  They fell behind 14-3 at halftime.  The Titans aren’t supposed to be a team built to mount comebacks.  Tennessee likes to play the ball control game and don’t have the quick strike offense that can come back from large deficits, especially on the road.  Well they came out in the second half and Kerry Collins drove them down the field and hit Brandon Jones with a 13 yard touchdown pass.  Collins then hit Justin Gage with a 56 yard touchdown throw on the next drive and just like that the Titans are in front 17-14.  He then finished them off with another touchdown strike of 38 yards to Gage in the fourth quarter.

Justin Gage came into the game with 5 catches all year.  Yesterday he had 4 catches for 147 yards and 2 touchdowns.  Third String Corner Chris Carr had to step in for Eric King on defense and after a slow start he shut down the Jags receivers, breaking up passes and coming up with an interception.

This epitomizes what the Titans are about.  It isn’t about one part with this team.  They are a complete team.  They are a deep team, especially on defense and if you try to take away one aspect of their game they beat you with something else.  Kerry Collins threw for 3 touchdowns for the first time since 2005.

Jeff Fisher and his staff are great at making the adjustments needed at the half.  They have always been a strong second half team and this year they are pretty much unbeatable.  Jeff Fisher coached teams are 49-2 on the ROAD when leading going into the fourth quarter. The only coach with a better record than that is Vince Lombardi.

Next up for the Titans are the NY Jets here at LP Field.  Will they be able to put the pressure on Favre to force some turnovers?  I’m not betting against them.

Remaining Schedule

@ Detroit

Cleveland

@ Houston

There remaining schedule certainly is not to bad. Pitt and Indy will be tough ones. Let’s just hope the Titan don’t lose on Thanksgiving to the winless Detriot Lions, since that is always one game the Lions play good in. Who knows but the Titans will be tought to beat in the playoffs.

I have the Titans losing to the Jets, and Steelers but they are the class of the AFC right now. I just really like the way those other 2 teams play football.

Perhaps the Titans should start coming out dancing like the fellas in the film Remember the Titans

I can see them losing to the Steelers but I think they are better than the Jets. They’ll probably end up with 2 losses.

The home field advantage is back this year. They will be tough if they get home field throughout this year

I’m rooting for them. After my Pats tore thru the league last year, watching the 72 Dolphins act like a bunch of whiny children at the SuperBowl really makes me want to see someone “get in their neighborhood”.

Good luck & enjoy the rest of the way out

The Panthers were in tough this weekend against the Lions so who knows?? and magical things tend to happen in Detroit on Thanksgiving day but the Titans have a very strong running game and that is what the Panthers used as the recipe for beating Detroit…. who knows in today’s NFL anymore??? ;) Jersey Jay

Yep. The Giants got drilled by the Browns, but of course the Browns are better than the Lions but they did hang in there pretty well against Carolina. The Titans are a pretty deep team and if they can strike early I’m not sure the Lions will hang in there.

I’m looking forward to the Jets and the Steelers coming in. Those should be some entertaining games.
