Raiders loose!

I know, I know, it’s hard to believe that the Raiders lost, but they did. Although, it was a lot closer then most would have guessed. By most, I include myself, as I took Miami to cover the spread. Oh well, I can’t seem to get this whole spread thing down, but never the mind, because it is what it is.
The Raiders lost to the Dolphins 17-15 in what was a very exciting game. I only asked for one thing to happen in this one, and that was for the Raiders to keep it close, and make a good game of it. So, I cannot be totally disapointed in the result. We faught hard, and showed a level of improvement, and as this season is all but lost with regards to playoff asperations, it is better to improve, over win.
It is very hard to be looking at draft choices at week 11, but when you are 2-8, you come to the realization that the more you loose, the better the draft choice. Sad and wrong as it sounds, it’s still true, and getting better draft choices, becomes important. I still need to watch this Crabtree WR, as he sounds perfect for the Raiders. Not that the o-line is not as important.
Ok, thats enough about the draft, its getting depressing. What I would like to note, is how Jamarcus Russell looked very impressive at times. He is starting to gain quite the repore with Zach Miller, and he is looking more and more like the QB he was in college.
It will also be nice to have Darren McFadden healthy, and watching him at 100% will prove to be quite the treat. All said and done, even though this season is a write off, we are a solid head coach, and coaching core away from being much much better. If we can keep guys like Asomugha, and develop players like McFadden and Russell, we will start to show that we have all the tools to be great.
Just think about how good this team can be with 2 more quality offensive linesman, and a great reciever.
There I go again….dreaming about the hopes of greatness coming back to the Raider Nation. I have to stop doing that, because I get myself all worked up.
Lets just put this past game into perspective, and state that it was a much needed push in the right direction.

Lee, I can’t hold out any longer. I don’t think the league should step in and take the team away from Al, but he can’t continue to make the team worse with every move. What he’s doing goes against everything he use to stand for. He just doesn’t care about the product that he’s putting out on the field. As a result the fans are suffering year in and year out while he gets older and crazier. That once great football mind Al use to have appears to be at war with the kind of petty stuff most good owners would either throw money to see go away or not let get that out of hand in the first place. I feel for you Raiders fans, but it could be worse, at least everyone in your division appears to be dissapointeing this year, aside from maybe the Broncos.

I hear ya buddy!!!
Al Davis used to stand for, “Just win”, and “commitment to excillence”, and now it has become, “just win Al’s way”, and “commitment to exing coaches”.
I believe that Al still can find good players, and I know this because X-Raiders are doing very well across the league, but the problem is that he doesn’t let his coaches actually do their job, and do it their way, so it creates a rift, and never works.
He needs to be all but uninvolved in the happenings of this team!
I don’t believe that Al’s going crazy, he is just too damn stubborn to realize that he has to try a new approach, and scrap the old and played out ideas he has.

Lee, I know you don’t think Al is crazy, but he doesn’t seem to be using any kind of logic lately. A couple years from now everyonei s going to be reading an article in the paper about a sad old man with Alzheimers or something. As sad as this day will be for Raiders fans, it will be the first day they can get the hope of bringing a championship back to Oakland.
What’s the word on Fossell coming in next year, just rumors?

You may be right about Davis going nutty, but I still have to disagree. I think that he is just too damn stubborn to change.
I do agree that hope will resurface when he is gone (as hard as that is to say). Davis is like that old player that was great but is trying to play past his prime, and has become a hinderance.
Oh well, what can we do.
As for Fossell, I haven’t heard anything yet, but when I do, I will make a post.
