Didn’t know a game could end in a tie ????

First I must post this direct quote from the fearless leader of the Eagles offense.  And then I stand back and shrug my shoulders at how he does not know that a game can end in a tie.

“I did not know that,” said McNabb, who played a leading role in keeping it tied.  “I’ve never been part of a tie.  I never even knew it was in the rule book.  I was looking forward to getting an opportunity to get back out there and try to drive to win the game.  But unfortunately with the rules, we settled with a tie.”

I can’t wrap my large head around the fact I know a game can end in a tie and a man making millions playing the game don’t know the games rules.  McNabb should know when the say sudden death they don’t mean it literally.   If this was not enough it was said Buckhalter & Greg Lewis had to ask a trainer if a game could end in a tie.   I sit here at my cubicle in work (trying not to be spotted doing this) in in shock at all of this and the players own comments.

To be honest I am not sure there really is a need to do a blog about this game it was just that terrible I was legally blind for severall minutes afterwards for subjecting my eyes to such crap.  I started to get my vision back as I took my dad to the Flyers game last night.

This should be a a very quick review of this one.

McNabb tossed 58 passes in this one and for the most part was his typicall not even come close to hitting anybody he was intending to throw the ball at, to, near, or around there head, hands, feet, or any other part of their bodies.  He was so far off on his passing yesterday that I am guessing the offensive coaching staff felt he would just shake it off, well think again.  And since some of them didn’t know it could end in a tie I won’t wait for them to respond.

Now the Bengals average giving up over 131 yards a game on the ground in around 31 attempts per game.  Yes, I know the Eagles will never be a running team under Reid but you justify to me a team that terrible against the run by only running 18 times for 68 yards.  A problem here is the pass so much the offensive line looks like they forgot how running blocking is supposed to go but that’s not really their fault.  I blame the 70 to 30 pass run ratio on Reid (the ratio was 76% pass to 34% against the Bengals), maybe 1 day he’ll get that no team has ever won a super bowl with that ratio or even close to what he has done in his 10 years with Philadelphia.

Well now it’s on to go over what my keys to the game were and my response today:

Well this first one was for McNabb to hit is receivers (He completed only 48% on sunday) which we know he did not do at all and for him to use his legs and play making ability.  Totally wrong only this key to the game he did nothing at all to help them win and in fact probably did far more in the ways he almost if not invited the Bengals to win the game then anything for his own team.

0 for 1

They have the heaviest line in the league and I hoped they would use it to their advantage against the Bengals well passing block wasn’t a problem for the most part Sunday.  It was a problem when you can’t run on the 10th worst team against the run.  Let’s add to it they were 0 for 3 in 3 and 1 situations and were so affraid to run it they passed on all 3 of them.

0 for 2

Well this one I think i got.  Defensively they did very well given the situations they were put from the offense.  They had 7 sacks and for 5 quarters held the Bengals to 282 total offenive yards an average of 56.4 yards a quarter.

1 for 3

Special teams didn’t do much at all with taking the punt and kick returns and turning them into good field position.  This was another painful area to watch that they continue to struggle in so much that I am not so sure they have an idea on how to fix the problem or problems.

1 for 4

All I can hope for is a better effort as they head to take on former Eagle special teams & defensive backs coach Jim Harbaugh and the Ravens in Baltimore.

Hilarious about McNabb and company not knowing the game could end in a tie…shows how bright they are.

Terrible game from the Eagles. You really can’t like that effort.
