Broncos D Steps Up In W

Michael Turner scored 2 TDs and ran for 81 yards on the Broncos..I have never been so happy.  81 yards was so much better than what I expected out of Turner against the Broncos D that has shown no signs of being able to stop the run this season.  Heck those 81 yards were gained on 25 carries for a 3.2 average for Turner and 1 run of 28 yards, you really could not have asked for more out of the Broncos.  Denver top to bottom had a very nice game and showed they care about trying to make the playoffs and win these big games on the road.

Not enough can be said about the effort of Spencer Larsen.  This is a guy most people have never heard of but started the game at both middle linebacker and fullback.  Spencer made some big tackles and the rookie looks to have made a name for himself.  Larsen likely will hold down a spot on this Broncos roster for sometime now that he showed how many tools he has in his shed.

Now to Jay Cutler.  Again Jay put the Broncos on his back and marched them downfield to score when it mattered.  Cutler had no problem throwing the ball with the lack of depth at running back and looked good as always.  I must say Cutler can put the ball in some crazy spots.  This is something that was brought up in the broadcast and then you see him make throws into triple coverage that still hit the guys hands.  That being said Brandon Marshall and Eddie Royal both make some fantastic grabs to help Mr. Cutler along the way.  Marshall made a grab along the sideline and tried to cut back and take it for more before stepping out of bounds.  Sounds like a pretty average play but I couldn’t believe he made the catch and stayed in bounds to begin with when he made it.  Marshall is one hell of an athlete that Denver should throw to even more.

Peyton Hillis had a nice game for the Broncos as well.  Sure he only had 44 yards rushing, but those yards resulted in 2 TDs and 4.4 yards per.  Also Hillis had 3 catches for 26 yards and one of those catches he made a super play by tip toeing down the sideline for a first down late in the game.

I could go on and on about how impressed I was with individual performances in this game.  Clady, Bly, etc. but at the end of the day the Falcons still had a chance to win this game.  If not for a blown catch by White in the endzone on a perfect pass by Ryan this game could of went to the Falcons.  Now you could also make the argument that if not for a blown catch by Jamie Winborn on a very easy interception this game was over before that play to White.

Added to the Broncos win was a Charger loss to the Steelers to put Denver 2 games up on the Chargers for the division title.  At this point you can surely talk about how bad this division is but I don’t think you can bash the Broncos.  Denver now sits at 6-4 which is a solid record.  Sure they dont have a great D but they are winning games and at the end of the day nothing else matters.

Denver now looks forward to a matchup next week against rival Oakland in Denver.  I will be back later in the week to talk about that matchup as well you can check out  Lee Tremblay’s blog for the Raiders side of things.

From the highlights I saw along with the stats, there d stepped up and have a decent game.

Hopefully it’s something they can really build off of and win a weak division.

D played great. Like I have been saying Denver really had to circle this stretch on their schedule as being the breaking point of their season. @ Atlanta, Raiders, @ Jets, KC. If they come out with 3 of 4 they make the playoffs. That simple.

Jets will be their toughest game……..KC has statted to give people fits but they fade as the game goes on.

I agree the Jets are the big test as they have been playing great football. They had to win this game against the Falcons and you could tell. If you look the Broncos next stretch after this one it isn’t so nice with games @ Carolina, Bills, @ Chargers. You don’t want that @ Chargers game to mean anything.

KC and Oakland will always bring their A game against the Broncos so those games with be no walk in the park.

Could be the AFC west winner is 9 - 7 at best.

At this point in the AFC I just want a chip and a chair. I think if you make the playoffs you have a chance. Heck just ask the Giants.

Denver could upset some teams in the playoffs if they play like they did yesterday. I mean the Titans are hands down the best in the AFC right now and how suprised would you be to see someone knock them off in the playoffs? Say what you will about the west being weak but all you need is a ticket to the dance.

WoW!!! Sandy, call me crazy but I think i saw Tatum Bell run three straight times for a first down in the fourth quarter to clinch and run out the game clock.

lol, I thought I would hear from you after watching him do that and I actually meant to give him some props in my blog but forgot (not sure how)

I gotta admit he did a solid jump.. That said, I assume you are a Broncos fan as well from your name…I held my breathe every single snap he took and that is no joke. All I was thinking was that he would fumble, the Falcons would get another chance and win the game…horrible thoughts I know.

Hopefully he makes it back to Denver without trying to pick up some new luggage on the way

Well that depends on the brand of luggage one has for him to keep his eyes on.

You know he won’t be going back to that mobile home sales job (i think that what they said he was doing) without top notch luggage as a parting gift.

Just wanted to give a quick shout out to my favorite Denver Bronco, Wesley Woodyard. Last two games the undrafted rookie has had 16 tackles.

Making all Kentucky fans proud of him. How nowone drafts the leading tackler in the SEC two years straight is beyond me.
