Week 11 Aftermath: Bears Simply Have No Response

We’re not there yet, but it might be time to hit the panic button if I were the Chicago Bears. Now 5-5, the Bears looked helpless as they let the Green Bay Packers walk all over them, losing 37-3 . Kyle Orton returned to the starting lineup, but looked about as effective as T-Rex did last week. Even Chicago’s run defense, who have been a consistent group all season long, were no match for a rejuvenated Ryan Grant, who ran the field with ease. The Bears continue their road trip against the struggling St. Louis Rams next week, in another must win game. Coach Lovie Smith and the Bears will no doubt be fielding a slew of questions all week concerning the teams lacklustre display over the last two games. Looking back at the important Keys:
1) Cover the Pass: The Bears get an ‘F’ for this key, as Aaron Rodgers played his game, throwing all over the Bears defensive core. I obviously retract my comment from my preview blog saying Ryan Grant would not be a problem to handle (he must of read this and got angry, taking it out on the Bears). Coach Lovie Smith simply had no response to the passing game, and now with his run defense taking a ridiculous pounding, it will be back to the drawing board this week at practice.
- It was such a blowout, Fox changed games midway through the 4th quarter, deciding on the much closer and more exciting Tampa Bay vs. Minnesota game. Talk about adding insult to injury.
- Devin Hester and Brandon Lloyd were simply nonexistent this week, combining for a total of 8 yards…8 stinking yards.
- Matt Forte was his usual self, unfortunately once again he failed to find the endzone. The kid can only do so much…
- The game could be summed up by Kyle Orton’s fumble late in the 4th quarter, it’s just the type of day it was for the Bears. Al Harris was all over Orton’s throws all game long, he couldn’t buy a pass off the man.
