Hawk Talk - Seahawks Drop “Must Win” Game to Cardinals

Well the end result is beginning to justify the means of moving forward, it if officially time to fire current head coach Mike Holmgren. It’s not about motivation or the two coach problem any more it is simply time to rebuild.
Question marks about are coaching situation need to be answered, for the first time in his career the “Big Show” is 2-8 and his decisions certainly should be called into question: starting Hasselbeck results in three interceptions (cost us the game), only calling ten running plays for Julius Jones? since taking over play calling duties we have run the ball less and less every week.
Seattle it’s time
The game itself played out pretty much who I thought except for one major exception which was Matt Hasselbeck, I predicted he could come up big and pull out a game for us but it turned out quite the opposite.
Game Breakdown
In previewing this match up I said “On offense the key to the game is simple don’t turn the ball over, the Cardinals can score in a hurry the last thing we need to do is hand them extra possessions or good field position.” We did exactly that Matt’s 3 Int’s plus a costly fumble were the real difference makers in this game.
On defense did the job you can’t stop the Cardinals from scoring but I figured if “we needed to keep them on the field as long as possible. If they did score let’s make them earn it with execution on drives of twelve plays or more.” We did that but turnovers handed them a short field one to many times for our offense to catch them.
Review of Key Match-ups from Preview
Anquan Boldin and Larry Fitzgerald vs Secondary; It’s no secret our secondary has had it’s struggles this season this will be a major test,we failed this test both players get more than 10 catches both go over 150 yards
Matt Hasselbeck vs His Back Injury, Actually Matt’s back injury has been affecting his legs but how healthy is he? only he knows but it’s been evident that he wanted to try to play the last couple weeks, Matt had his moments but overall not a good game the three turnovers were a big factor
I will follow what will be an interesting week in Seahawks history as any hope for this season has slipped away, there is such respect for Mike and what he has done for this city and the organization as a whole that as yet I have not seen anyone calling for his head.
We should remember that he chose to leave football for family, not that there is anything wrong with his decision but he made that choice but at this point to let him continue to run this program serves no purpose other than nostalgia.
Please check back on Wednesday for your Seahawks update
