Turner Time

The Denver Broncos get the task of trying to stop Michael Turner this weekend. Turner has shown the ability to tear apart teams with bad D and be normal against teams that have a solid run D. We all know that Denver can’t stop the run to save their lives so this could be a very bad week for the Broncos. Denver also can’t look away from the air, Matt Ryan has been great so far this season and again nothing on the Broncos side looks able to stop what the Falcons have been doing so far this season.
Denver will look to move the ball without the likes of Torain, Hall, Pittman, and a banged up Young. Yes the Broncos with be showing what the #5 RB looks like. Things have got so bad in the Denver backfield that they brought back Tatum Bell. Yes Bronco fans the same guy who was a bum in his first stint in Denver.
Jay Cutler, Brandon Marshall and Eddie Royal give me hope for this week. These 3 have played great for a good part of the year and showed they are ready to stay out of thier slump last week. This trio has the talent to tear it up against a so-so D in Atlanta.
Jerious Norwood, Michael Turner, and Matt Ryan are the names that scare me this week. The less you hear of them the better off the Broncos are. Ryan will likely look all-world this week as Denver had a tough time with Brady Quinn in his first ever start last week.
Do I think Cutler and co. can pull out the win? I sure hope so. As I have been saying for a few weeks this is the big stretch in the Broncos year. They have the abilitly to lock up the division in the next 4 weeks in my opinion by playing some hard nosed football. So Yes I will take Denver to win in a shootout. I would also say this game will be settled by 7 points min. as I don’t see either team having to settle for field goals.
Denver is @ Atlanta this week, then home to Oakland, @ Jets, home to Chiefs, over the next 4 weeks. Win 3 out of 4 before you go face the Panthers @ Carolina, then host the Bills, and finish with the Chargers. Struggle in this stretch and it could be no playoffs for the Broncos.

I think you are being alittle harsh when it comes to Tatum Bell. In 2006 he rushed for 1000 yrds and during his three career in denver average 4.8 yrds a carry. He fell into Shanahan’s doghouse because of fumble issues during the 06 season.
I think its just shanny giving him a second chance to rekindle his career plus with short notice he already understand the offense. I think Bell will mostly be used as a special teamer this weekend with the Broncos going with Hillis as the RB.
One thing I agree with you is that Turner and Norwood could have monster days this week against the broncos abortion of a defense!

broncoman,
Thanks for the comments. I am glad you agree with me on the Turner, Norwood point…
As for the rest.
Bell put up some solid numbers rushing the ball while in Denver but lets not forget this was a time when our O-Line was just super and anyone could jump in and be great. Hell Mike Anderson looked like Superman, as did Reuben Droughns, and Mike Bell…would you make the same point for all of them if they came back to be a Bronco? Look I hope it works out but I always found Bell to be a very soft runner who like you said seemed to always drop the ball. Bell seemed to always drop the ball at horrible times in games. Don’t even get me started on his character. Anyways Yes Bell can run outside the tackles, can’t find holes, and fumbles the ball…I do agree he was brought in because he knows the system..that is it. I would be shocked to see him help out this club. When the Lions ditch you how good can you really be?
Hillis hopefully can carry the load…
Not sure if you disagree with anything else I wrote?

I am not sold on Tatum Bell either, but when you are desperate, you do what you gotta do. Well said Sandy on Tatum!

Sure would love to rewind the clock and pickup Alexander…who would you rather fill in Bell or a former MVP. I must of said 20 times “I can’t believe nobody has signed him yet” and always had the Broncos in mind when I said that. Perhaps we will all get to see what Shaun has left in the tank as the Redskins RBs are banged up as well.
Thanks for the comment Kev.

My point wasn’t that Tatum Bell was going to come in here and be superman. The Broncos with all the injuries on defense are going to be a passing team with alot of empty back fields and play action pass. Bell will be around until Selvin Young is ready. He will play special teams and give Hillis a rest when needed this sunday.
Sandy called him a bum when he was in denver and I said he wasn’t. When you have a 5 yrd a carry average ur doing well no matter the offensive line.
Do i think Bell will be the answer to help this team make the playoffs? Of course not…give me a break. Frankly I suspect Bell will be back on the unemployment line come december when Young is fulling healthy. But its not a surprise that Shanahan would sign someone that has experience with our offense.

One more thing Shaun Alexander has more mileage on him then a 1991 Volkswagon. He’s damaged goods!

run 5 yards and drop the ball = bum in my books

We agree that he is a fix for a very big problem in the backfield right now. Hopefully Young gets back quick and we don’t ever have to worry about Tatum dropping the ball at a big time in the game.

Did Bell show up with Rudi Johnson’s luggage from Detriot ?
