DOLPHINS HANG ON FOR WIN

Thanks to Miami’s strong start they managed to come away with a 21-19 win over the Seattle ’s on Sunday.  Watching the game was a little nerve racking as it seemed like the Seahawk’s had all the momentum in the fourth quarter.  The Dolphins defense stepped up when needed by stopping the would be game tying two point conversion, and once again with Seattle driving in the final minutes of the game.

The player of the game was Ricky Williams, who looked like the Ricky of old rushing for 105 yards on 12 carries including a 51 yard scamper untouched.  Ricky was quick and strong on his feet the whole game and played with the confidence I haven’t seen for a long time.  Once again the Wildcat offense proved to be a big difference with the Ronnie Brown running for a key 16 yard touchdown and of course Williams touchdown.  Plus lets not forget the opening drive flea-flicker to Tedd Ginn Jr for his first TD of the season with a 39 yard amazing catch.  Ginn has truly impressed me the last few games, and I hope it continues.

Although the Dolphins managed a win and showed great resilience under pressure, this game should have been over after they went up 14-0.  But Chad Pennington threw a costly INT for a Seahawks touchdown which let them back into the game.  The Dolphins need to improve on there third down efficiency as when it is 3rd and 5 yards or more there conversion rate is abysmal.  Plus special teams coverage needs to get better as Miami is giving up huge returns and shortening the field for oppossing offense’s and putting more pressure on there defense.

All in all this was a great game to watch and showed me Miami can win the tight games even though they might not have deserved the victory.   Up next is another home game against the struggling Oakland Raiders.  Another must win game for the Dolphins in order to keep pace with the division.  Especially since the Jets and Patriots play each other Thursday night.  Looking ahead Miami hosts the Patriots in the re-match and you know New England will be ready for that one.  Just think if New England and Miami win this week, the game between them could mean the Dolphins taking over the AFC East lead.  Never though I would say that this season.  The Dolphins are in good shape but can’t get caught looking ahead in the schedule, because you just never know.

Seattle looked much better with Seneca at QB this week. Miami really needs to beat Oakland and STL in 2 of the next 3 weeks. Dolphins can’t afford a look ahead this coming week to NE.

Agreed Zach, Miami definitely needs to win two of three and if they can beat the Patriots, well that would be icing on the cake.
