WE GOT POINTS!!!!

Call the press, and crack open the beer, the Raiders got some points!
It was only 6 points, but at least it was something.
What I don’t understand, is why this defense can show up for some of the games, but not all, or at least most of them. This defense played great today, dispite allowing 162 yards on the ground (69 of which, came from one run).
Delhomme was completely shut down, with 72 yards on 7/27 attempts. He also threw a TD which was his only highlight. Delhomme threw a career high 4 INT’s and had 2 sacks.
Williams had a great day with 140 yards rushing and a TD.
At the end of the game, all I wanted was for Janikowski to get that fieldgoal to have the Raiders beat the spread. But of course, he missed it, which is par for the course.
The game started off on the wrong foot, when Johnnie Lee Higgins fumbled the kickoff on his own 15. Carolina didn’t waste the chance, as Delhomme threw the TD to Muhammad for the first score of the game.
The Raiders offense started off looking good, as they ran down the field into Carolina’s end, but came up short and had to punt.
The Raiders took the ball away from Carolina on 4 INT’s, all of which gave them great field position in Carolina’s end. Even just getting 1 TD would have been acceptable, but all we got was 6 points on 2 fieldgoals. Missed chances are what killed this team today.
A missed tackle on RB DeSean Williams resulted in a 69 yard run for a TD.
Botched snaps stopped drives.
Penalties killed drives for the Raiders, and kept drives going for the Panthers.
2 INT’s for Andrew Walter stopped drives for the Raiders, one of them being in the endzone.
Julius Peppers dominated today, and almost singlehandedly won the game for the Panthers.
In the end it was missed chances, and a lack of offense that burried this Raiders team.
As sad as this game was for the Raiders, it was an improvement of a game. All I was hoping for with this game, was to still have a chance at the end, and we did, so I cannot be that upset.
There are so many bad things going on with this team right now, on and off the field, yet they came out today, and at least made an effort. By no means, do I see the sun on the horizon, but we didn’t get any worse today, so that may be a start.
Carolina 17 Oakland 6
It’s tough being a Raiders fan!

I couldn’t watch the game here, but I did follow it a bit on-line, and if they could just get some TD’s instead of FG’s, they may have another win or two. I know that was the case in Buffalo.
What did you think of Walter today?

Sorry to say but my winning strategy in Fantasy Football this year has been to start whatever team defense is playing Oakland that week….works most of the time :S. Tough times for Raiders fans right now.

The missed chances are definately killing this team, and getting no TDs is never good, but its not doing the little things right, that is helping this team struggle. So frustrating.
As for Walter, he didn’t look too bad, but a couple bad throws really cost this team, and he was clearly rusty.
It doesn’t metter who is the QB, this team just simply needs to find its edge and focus. And we are not even close yet.

Thats actually a brilliant strategy Mike, but don’t say it too loud, because then everyone will start doing it.
Being a Raiders fan right now, is like being a Leafs fan in the 80’s (as rediculously hard as that is for me to say)

The Raiders D is so impressive though, and I feel really bad for them..
When you’re on the field all the time, it really tires you out, and you end up giving up big rushing tds, like the one DeAngelo Williams had.. If Oakland had a decent QB, and a decent O-Line, they would’ve won this game.. So far Jamarcus Russel has been a bust, but that’s only because his O-line gets to him all the time, which makes it difficult for Javon Walker, Ronald Curry & co. to make catches. Zach Miller has the ability to be one of the best tight ends in the league, it’s too bad his skill is going to waste like this..

because his O-line never helps him out****

Great game by the Raiders this week! I was horrified with Jake’s performance to the point that I have still not posted this week!! Game balls to Julius Peppers and Williams for saving this UGLY win! Jersey Jay

All I wanted AND needed was that missed field goal at the end of
the game, just 6 or 8 inches in height and length would have been
a win.

Ah the point spread!!!!!!!

Russell is not ready to be the leader of this team, and that is part of the problem, but you hit the nail on the head, with the o-line needing improvement. Some of the o-line is good, and they are good for the run, but we need a solid tackle, or two, and another guard.
As for the recievers, Javon Walker hasn’t helped much, partly because he hasn’t been getting the ball, and partly because he drops half of his passes.
What it boils down to, is that nobody is on the same page. There is no proper communication, and one player is making a mistake on one play, while another is making a mistake on the next. Penalties and stupidity is also a huge factor.
We are simply a mess, and its EVERYONES fault.

Peppers was the player of the game, BY FAR. He dominated Harris, and made the o-line look pathetic. If your Panthers were playing anyone else the way they played this weekend, without a doubt they would have gotten killed.

congrats on the win though

Me too. I was more pissed off with that kick, then I was with the rest of the game.
NO luck at all!

Very very true, but I would have added a few four letter words with that
