Rams @ Jets - Week 10 - Preview

The Rams travel up to the Meadowlands to face Brett Favre and the NY Jets this week. The Rams (2-6) are three games back from the Cards, just clinging to life in the weak NFC West. The Jets on the other hand are 5-3 and fighting for the division title with the Bills, Patriots, and Dolphins.

As I have mentioned earlier in my midweek chat, the Rams will have a bevy of injury concerns. Out for the Rams are the following: WR Drew Bennett, WR Dante Hall,  and LB Chris Draft.  As well, running backs Antonio Pittman and Steven Jackson did not practice on Thursday.

Obviously, this is definitely a problem for the Rams. They will be playing backups in these players starting positions, and injuries like these are what made the Rams finish 3-13 last season.

So what to expect? The Rams need to keep it close. It has become a motto for this team. If Jackson is not going at 100% or better than what he was last week, they have no shot in this game. The offense has been too inconsistent, and to rely on Bulger to air it out with all the concerns at the WR is unrealistic.

The Rams must also play solid on defense but maybe even more importantly, specialty teams. Jets RB Leon Washington is one of the best in the game at returning kicks or punts. They must be wary of him when he is back deep.

With the Rams playoff hopes fading or possibly even faded, they need a win to go on a winning streak now to have a chance to make the playoffs. But even winning 6 straight and finishing 8-8 won`t get them in. It may be too early to tell. So let`s see on Sunday if the Rams have given up on their season or id they have any fight left.

UPDATE: Steven Jackson will be out of this game, as will Antonio Pittman. RB Chris Darby will start and RB Samkon Gado is his backup.

See you after the game.

It will be interesting to see how the rookie Darby does at RB. They need to show more than they did last week!

Yeah Darby hasn’t had much work thus far in his pro career. Let’s see how he will do being the #1 guy.
