Since 1936, the Washington Redskins home game prior to the election has predicted the presidential elect 17 out 18 times! Last night Barack Obama was elected as the next president of the United States. You may now thank the Redskins’ offense for not playing so well and the Steelers’ defense for playing so well.
- When the Redskins win their final home game before the election, the incumbent party’s candidate (John McCain) also wins.
- When the Redskins lose their final home game before the election, the challenging party’s candidate (Barack Obama) unseats the incumbent party’s candidate.
The Redskins have their bye week this week. They need the rest. They need to regroup. “The bye is coming at a great time,” Jim Zorn said. “We’re going to take some time off and relax, and just get away from it. Not that our guys are exhausted from it, but physically we’re beat right now. When you have an opportunity to take a break, it refreshes you.”
Some great news for the Redskins defense is that CB Shawn Springs and DE Jason Taylor are expected to play against Dallas on November 16th.
Redskins-Cowboys on Sunday night football on November 16th. I will be reporting this game first hand from tailgating to seeing my favourite player of all time Darrell Green receiving his HOF ring, to watching the Redskins conquer their nemesis from my end zone seats. It will truly be one of the greatest nights of my life.
