Watch What You Wish For Browns Fans

Oh, the Brady Quinn era begins.

Derek Anderson has been benched in favor of Brady Quinn for Thursday’s game against the Denver Broncos.  The Browns fans have been chanting for Quinn every time Anderson makes a bad play.  What they are forgetting is that ALL of the bad plays are not DA’s fault.

Anderson’s stats are down this year and he ranks near the bottom of many QB rankings.  You need to take all data with a grain of salt and ask, “What else goes into this result?”  Dropped passes sure can make a QB’s numbers look bad.  We should ask Braylon Edwards if he has any input on the subject.  Throwing the ball under pressure could cause some inaccuracy.  Perhaps, the offensive line could tell us what might cause pressure on the QB.  I am guessing that having some star players to throw too would help out!  Let’s ask the doctors and nurses how well our buddies, Donte Stallworth and Kellen Winslow are doing this year.

I am, by no means, saying that DA is great or he is getting the shaft, but Romeo is making him the scapegoat for all of the Browns offensive problems.  How about benching Braylon when he drops the ball?  Tell K2 to hit the pine when he is not beating safeties and linebackers on his routes.  Honestly, everyone raves about this guy giving 110% on the field…well, I haven’t seen it in 2008!  I would love to hear Phil Savage tell Stallworth not to let the door hit him in the rear on the way out.  If you want a guy to stretch the field, get someone that can do it for 23 games every season, not 2.  The offensive line has been inconsistent.   We can’t bench them because the backups would be horrible.  Maybe, Romeo could fire them up a little bit, especially when we are playing a defense that blitzes a lot (Pittsburgh, Baltimore).  The offense stunk in the 4th quarter on Sunday, should we bench them all?

The timing isn’t great for Quinn either.  I am sure he prepares as if he is going to be the starter, but he has only 2 practices to get his timing down with the first team this week.  Hmmmmm, enough time?  I think not.  Playing a team like Denver, with a putrid defense, may be just what the doctor ordered for DA.  Instead, we are going to take a good chance for a win, and putting it aside for an experiment.  Here’s hoping Jamal Lewis runs over Denver like a train.  That is the only saving grace for Quinn this week.

We are 3-5, but I hope this isn’t our first decision while saying, “Maybe next year…”

I hope I am wrong and, as always, I will be rooting for my Browns to come out victorious.

Go BROWNS!

Not sure either on this one Tom. The timing on the short week is terrible. I thought the coaching staff would put in Quinn with a chance to succeed rather than have no time to prepare. As you said, DA hasnt had the weapons this year, with so many injuries, etc…..

I really do hope that Brady can get the job done. I will be pulling for him!
