The Giants, backed by a great defensive performance defeated the Cowboys on Sunday to move to 7-1 on the season and 2-0 in the NFC East.  This was a big win for the G-men as they couldn’t afford to lose a divisional game to a team as beat up as the Cowboys.  This win allows them to keep the best record in the NFC and makes them a Superbowl favourite as they start the second part of their schedule.

Eli didn’t exactly play a pretty game as he only threw for 147 yards.  What he excelled at was scoring in the redzone, something he had a hard time doing last week against the Steelers.  Eli finished the game with 3 TD passes; he also had 3 turnovers, so he has to protect the ball better.  Brandon Jacobs rushed for over 100 yards again and added a TD as the Cowboys could not find a way to stop New York’s running game.  The Giants dominated the time of possession and could have done more damage offensively if Eli had taken better care of the ball.

Defensively, the G-men played outstanding causing four turnovers on the day.  Corey Webster had 2 interceptions and Justin Tuck also had a big game coming up with 2.5 sacks.  With the Cowboys’ QB situation a mess, the Giants’ defense attacked all game disrupting Brad Johnson in the first half and then Brooks Bollinger in the second.  Neither QB could get the offense moving, and when they did, the Giants’ D would come up with either a big play or a turnover.

Without Romo and other key losses to injury, the Cowboys didn’t put up much of a fight.  The Giants came into the game poised and ready.  It didn’t take long to notice that the Boyz were not into the game and were just going through the motions.  They are in desperate need of a break and now that they have their bye, they can plot on how to salvage a season that once seemed so promising.

The Giants head on the road next week to Philadelphia.  This will be a big game as the Eagles have been playing really well.  Expect them to throw the kitchen sink at the champs in an effort to get an all important divisional win.
