Farewell STB (at least a partial farewell)

It’s been three long weeks since my last appearance here at this fine, up-and-coming sports blog website and unfortunately, I will no longer be blogging full-time. I have been forced to reduce my role to USC only and hand over the reigns of Niner blogging to Dan “AK Bars” Kazaan, although I’ve decided to designate myself as a guest blogger, rather than team-specific. I think I can contribute more in that respect, by writing on an occasional basis about whatever’s on my mind. Oh, and Kev, if you don’t like that idea, you can take me off the payroll!! Oh yeah, I wasn’t on it to begin with - cheap @$$
These days, I have been blessed with the strong opening month performance of Les Glorieux - the Montreal Canadiens. Despite not playing to their potential in any of their first seven games, the Habs boast a respectable 5-1-1 record and tomorrow night’s tilt with the Harftord Whalers of Carolina will be Montreal’s first game at full strength all year. It’s time for the Europeans donning the jerseys of the Flying Frenchmen to strike some fear in their opposition. It’s their time to shine and bring home cup #25 in season #100.
All the while, the USC Trojans continue to coast towards what will likely be another trip to the Rose Bowl. Given the way Texas has been playing and the fact that Penn State will roll through the Little 10, there is no way the Trojans will be able to snag one of the top two spots in the BCS standings. In previous years, an ugly early-season loss can be all-but-erased from pollsters’ memories, but I don’t expect that to happen this time around. Needless to say, that offense needs another year to grow. I was too excited about them from the get-go and have reduced myself to the consolation prize - Pasadena. Yippee!!
============================
Now to the unofficial farewell - STB has potential. Unfortunately, potential only gets you so far because having potential means you either have potential to be great or potential to suck. Quite frankly, I believe that the majority of the bloggers here have the potential to be great, but very few actually write anything beyond the norm. What will separate each and every one of you from the mainstream is by writing something a little different than what’s expected. It doesn’t matter if what you write is completely out of whack, but if what you’re writing is making someone else think about their position on a subject, then you did your job well. That’s what I tried to do from day one here and I’ll continue to do that on whatever basis I can.
A special shout out to my personal favorites out here:
1. James Centifonti - the most dedicated STBer and college football fan I know
2. Tim Anderson - a rational Bills fan (they don’t come along very often)
3. Becky Edwards and Tom Kuhman - my antagonists from the Big 10
4. Lee Tremblay - for being emotional for all the wrong reasons!
Later Dudes,
DC

Sorry to see you go (sort of temporarily) the USC/Big 10 banter was probably one of the more enjoyable moments in STB’s one year history.
And on a related note I agree Tim is one of the most rational Bills fans i’ve ever run into. Almost too rational, enjoy it.

You make some very valid points on what to blog about. I always enjoyed reading your work and you always supported the facts with a great opinion.
I am sure we will still see you around but good luck with whatever you do.

I echo everything each person has said here! You are a very good writer and I know you will still be around blogging a few times a month but you hit the nail on the head when saying what it takes to get people to rethink their opinion and you were terrific at that! Your weekly thoughts will be missed and all the replying to blogs as well! All the best my friend! Oh and you have mail, sent you a nice e-mail.
