Report: Harrison has torn quad, out for season

The hits just keep on coming for the defending AFC Champions. Already dealing with the loss of starters Laurence Maroney and Tom Brady it was reported this afternoon that the Patriots have lost safety Rodney Harrison for the remainder of the 2008 season. Harrison suffered a torn quadriceps muscle in his right leg during the third quarter of last night’s 41-7 Patriots win. The injury could signal the conclusion of his 15-year NFL career. It was reported over the summer that Harrison was seriously considering retirement, now its seems perhaps a foregone conclusion. The ever helpful Bill Belichick said he would have information on Harrison “when it becomes available.”
With the loss of Harrison the already questionable Patriots secondary will have some roles to fill. In the pre-season the Patriots brought in John Lynch but released him before the start of the season due to his limited role with Meriweather and Harrison in the safety slot. There have also been on again off again rumours for the past six months of the potential return of Ty Law to the Patriots. Should be yet another interesting week in Patriot Place, as they decide on how to react to this news.

love the comment Dan. I have a hard time feeling bad for captain cheap shot but I gotta say it is always sad to see a guy end his career on a cart. No matter how dirty he was.

Yeah, I agree Sandy… Always sad to see someone finish with an injury. I was just pointing out the irony, after the discussion/debate about his late/high hit on Denver’s QB this past weekend…

oh yes and I actually almost wrote in my blog how I didn’t fell very bad when I seen him on the cart. Karma is a bitch Mr. Harrison
