Pats Roll Against Broncos

Yikes.  What a terrible effort by the Denver Broncos on Monday night.  I won’t lie to you and pretend I tried to watch the entire game so I could really lay into the Broncos here this morning, I shut the tv down at halftime.  Denver made it clear to anyone watching that they did not show up and the game was over well before the half.

I will start with the good news I heard when I woke up.  Jay Cutler came back to the game which thank heavens means his finger is okay.  That would be the end of the good news.

Bad news…well besides the fact the Broncos got smoked.  Champ Bailey didn’t return and the way he pulled up after the play he hurt his groin on did not look good.  Hopefully Champ makes a quick recovery because this brutal D can’t afford to lose it’s best player.

The Broncos are still winning the division but are in some serious trouble.  The D just looks awful and shows no real sign of being able to make a big stop which is putting all the pressure square on Jay Cutler’s shoulders.  Sure our young QB has got much better but he isn’t Tom Brady yet folks.  Jay can’t continue to win games on his own annd unless the coaching staff gets together some better defensive schemes they are in for some more losses.

Later in the week I will be back for some insight on how the Broncos have looked heading into their bye week and things they need to improve on coming out of it.  For now I would just like to pretend that last evenings game never really happened.

It’s smart turning off the TV at the earliest opportunity. Why subject yourself to Tony Kornheiser’s insanely uninformed commentary any longer than absolutely necessary?

As for the game, it looked to me like the Broncos simply weren’t prepared. They didn’t execute on offence, and when they did, a turnover would quickly reverse their fortunes. I give the Patriots full marks for the win, but wonder if this isn’t more a case of Denver pooping the bed more than anything else…

I agree without the turnovers early in the game this might of been a different story but they happen. The biggest concern for me is they could not stop the Pats from scoring. Champ Bailey leaves the game for 2 minutes and Randy Moss scores. Not good at all. That wasn’t Tom Brady throwing the ball in a Matt Cassell jersey. Denver finally has a good stand on D with what looked like a 3 and out but they take a silly facemask penalty and keep the drive alive…brutal game. They will have a tough time making the playoffs and if they do they won’t win a playoff game playing like that.

I agree about Bailey being key to any defensive success. The mis-match of Moss on Dre Bly was almost comical. Looked like a midget trying to cover Shaq….

Some of the penalties in the game were awfully questionable though, like the offensive pass interference against Hobbs in the second quarter… But, that alone wouldn’t have changed the outcome…

The call against Marhsall was just terrible. No idea what the ref made that call on and I personally think those calls are just as bad as the call that was made in the Chargers game. Those calls change the course of a game just as much as any.

Definitely agree that call was horrendous. The officials didn’t do the Broncos any favors, but I think a more focused Denver effort could have resulted in a huge comeback last night.

Dumb, real penalties cost Denver a shot at this game. It was 13-0 Pats when that face mask happened. The Pats were backed up and stopped. That’s an inexcusable penalty. Cassel was going nowhere, had thrown the ball away and you grab his face mask? That’s beyond stupid.

totally agree Nich….was an awful game to watch as a Broncos fan. Very rare for me to shut the game off but I just knew I couldn’t stand to watch anymore.

I was wondering if it was just me that can’t stand listening to Kornheiser announcing a game. I would rather have Dennis Miller back, over him (and I’m serious)! It is getting to the point where I can’t even stand his voice, nevermind the crap that comes out of it.

I actually enjoyed Dennis Miller, but I’m a huge fan of his comedy and might therefore be biased…

Best thing to do with Kornheiser is to turn the volume off and listen to the game on the radio (provided you can find a station with equal delay to the TV)…

While I enjoy PTI I agree that Tony is brutal on MNF.
