Vikings Give Game Away To Da Bears

Who would’ve thought that the Vikings would put 41 on the board against a strong, albeit depleted, Bears defence and still lose? That’s what throwing four interceptions and allowing another two special teams TD’s will do. In a game where the Minnesota Vikings could’ve easily beaten the Chicago Bears, the Vikes repeatedly shot themselves in the foot and ultimayely lost what can be considered a big game for them early in the season.
Minnesota gave up majors on a blocked punt, which could be more appropriately expressed as a blocked snap by the Vikings punter….ugly to say the least, as well as a botched punt return. Special teams play has now got to be of major concern to the Vikings as they’ve now allowed 5 touchdowns against already this season! Certainly, despite Frerotte’s 4 interceptions, these miscues can be deemed directly responsible for the demise of the Vikings at Soldier Field on this day.
As for Frerotte, it has to be troubling to Minnesota to have their QB throw four picks against a seriously depleted Bears secondary; Gus was intercepted for the fourth time with 47 seconds left in the game by rookie CB Zack Bowman to extinguish any hopes Minnesota might have had to come back. Does Minny push the panic button and throw Tavaris Jackson back in yet?
On the bright side, Minnsota ran the ball well, scoring three TD’s on the ground. Two of said scores came from Adrian Peterson, who tallied 121 yards on the ground on 22 carries, with Chester Taylor scoring the third. Jared Allen also had another big day on the defensive side of the ball, registering 6 solo tackles, 2 sacks and a forced fumble.
On the whole, the Minnesota Vikings have to be very disappointed with Sunday’s result and will need to put this game behind them and look forward to their next game so as not to lose any more ground on the division leading Bears and Packers.
