Skins Take On Browns At Home

It’s time for the Redskins’ winning streak to start again.  Last week was a losing week for every team in the NFC East (except for the Eagles), and the Browns are coming off a tremendous win against the Giants, however, for the Redskins it’s time to pick things from week 5.  The Browns offense is rated 28th in the NFL to the Redskins’ 7th place.

Clinton Portis currently leads the NFL in rushing.  With the addition of Shaun Alexander, this is going to be the team for the running game, eating a lot of time off the clock, giving their opponents less time to score.  They need this desperately as their D is injured.

The Redskin secondary is almost all injured.  CB Shawn Springs was added to the injury reserve yesterday after reinjuring his calf during practice.  CB Fred Smoot is also injured and did not practice.  CB Carlos Rogers was also injured, but he is expected to play.

“The injuries to the secondary are a real concern,” Zorn said. “I really believe that players have to have the example of practicing [before games]. We have some veteran players who can play without practice. But we’re getting some younger guys ready, just in case.”

S Reed Doughty is on injury reserve and his backup, super star Chris Horton, is injured as well with an ankle injury.  If Chris Horton and Shawn Springs do not play on Sunday, newcomer Mike Green will have to start.

“When we brought him in, I told him he would definitely be inactive the first week and that we’d get him ready the next week,” Greg Blache said. “But he may have to be ready to play this week. We’ll try to give him a crash course in the basics of the defense. He is an experienced pro. He has been around and he understands our defense.”

Kickoff is 4:15 PM on Sunday.  Hail to the Redskins!!

If the Browns can toss up a repeat perfomance this could be a good game even if Winslow is not able to play due to his from his unkown illness.
