Packers vs. Colts Preview

Week 7 is finally here! Packers vs. Colts at Lambeau Field. This will be the Packers second test (re-Dallas in Week 3) against a perennial Super Bowl contending team. And to think - we were almost going to be talking about the Packers trading a 3rd round pick for TE Tony Gonzalez eh? Thank the Cheifs GM for this never-happened story.
This game features two great teams with impressive 2007 records, who have both faced an odd beginning through the first games of 2008 - with injuries dominating their headlines, to their most notable players.
How will injuries affect the outcome of the game. Well - depends on your perspective. From the Packers point-of-view, it appears as though they are meeting the Colts just as Peyton Manning has returned to his normal, superior self. But, much to the delight of Packer fans everywhere, feared RB Joseph Addai appears out this week with a hamstring issue. This means, 2nd tier RB Domenic Rhodes will see the bullk of duties at RB, and should be easier a player for the Packers to contain (we hope anyhow).
On the other hand, the Packers top RB Ryan Grant (although it didn’t seem obvious to me), finally put himself over the 100 yard gain level last week - his best performance of the season. If Grant, can continue this trend this week the and the Packers recieve their normal input from steady WR’s Jennings and Driver combined with a decent to great game by Rodgers - the offense should be next to the same strength as we witnessed versus Detroit in Week 2, but with the addition of a 100% Grant.
Defensively, the Packers are still without Al Harris but may recieve Justin Harrell back in the fold this weekends game. Harrell, most likely Ted Thompson’ most scrutinzed draft pick ever, can really win over the critics if he can get out there and play, and (b) can put together a great performance Sunday.
In a, what I’d like to call pointless story, but Packer related nonetheless I thought I’d share this link from the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel paper, it’s a very quick read and you should at least have a laugh. And we all need a daily laugh. Click here.
Check out the Colts fan perspective with STB’s own - Mike Crupi here.
I’ll predict a close game, with the Packers grinding out a win. 27-24 Pack.
After this Sunday’s Packer game, the schedule takes a break with a much needed Bye Week - what remains, appears below.
Nov 2 - @ TEN
Nov 9 - @ MIN
Nov 16 - vs. CHI
Nov 24 - @ NO
Nov 30 - vs. CAR
Dec 7 - vs. HOU
Dec 10 - @ JAX
Dec 22 - @ CHI
Dec 28 - vs. DET

just seeing if you heard about this and I was not dreaming. It is not related to this weeks game but I heard that when Green Bay played Tampa Bay at Lambeau that they only put Tampa up so next when Green Bay played Tampa Bay, Tampa Bay just put up Green on the scoreboard. Can you confirm or am I making this up?…..should be a good tilt this weekend at Lambeau…..
