Patriots preparing for must win Monday

This week has been a little different for the Patriots for several reasons. The Pats now sit at 3-2 and our trailing the Toronto/Buffalo Bills for the division lead by a game and a half. The Patriots three wins have come against teams with a combined record of 6-10. The Patriots without Brady have barely been able to keep their head above the water. This Monday night they will face the Denver Broncos, an explosive offensive team, that leads the AFC West. Jay Cutler and Co. can stretch the field better than the Chargers who tore holes in the Patriots secondary this past weekend. That leaves the Patriots in hot water.

The Patriots have not had a losing “streak” since dropping two games to the Colts and Jets in November of 2006. To be fair the Patriots followed those two games with a 35-0 pasting of the Green Bay Packers. Besides ‘06 the Pats have not lost two games since 2002 the last season they failed to qualify for the playoffs.

So far this season the Broncos have averaged 27.6 PPG, the Patriots offense has only surpassed that total once this season. The Broncos coming to town combined with the Rays 3-1 lead in the ALCS have several sports fans in Massachusetts feeling a little antsy. To add to the Patriots laundry list of issues they must readjust to the eastern time zone. Cornerback Ellis Hobbs professed to being up late at night staring at the all unable to sleep. The Patriots better be more than well rested come Monday night….

I’ll be back Friday with a full game preview, in the mean time check out Kevin Lee’s latest blog which details Monday Night Football’s 600th telecast which is of course this Broncos/Patriots matchup.

    Zach Smith Says:

It should be a high scoring affair on Monday night for sure. A loss would hurt the Pats but this division will be a fight to the end. 8-8 could win it.
