News out of Dallas and not Pacman or of any negative relation….FYI:

The Dallas Cowboys traded for wide receiver Roy Williams from the Detroit Lions yesterday in a bit of a surprise move.  Williams comes back home to Texas where he played college ball and grew up.  He was an All-American during his time as a Longhorm at the University of Texas.  Williams was the Lions first round pick in the 2004 draft and has been unhappy with the Lions this season so far, plus he was set to become an unrestricted free-agent at seasons end so the Lions got something in return for him.

Williams was an all-pro in 2006 and has 29 career TD’s but so far this year he had only 17 receptions and one TD so coming to Dallas with their receiving core should help Dallas quarterback Tony Romo and company.  Williams first heard of the trade from Dallas receiver Terrell Owens.  Owens who has created some drama himself recently seems to be very happy with the trade so let see what he does in a Cowboy uniform.  Dallas has subsequently signed Williams to a 5 year deal.  The Williams deal with take pressure off Owens, Witten, Crayton and even the Dallas running back tandem of Marion Barber III and Felix Jones when he returns.  It should be interesting but some finally good news out of Dallas for this mid-week FYI……see ya all in a couple days…..Dallas heads to the dome of St. Louis…

Everyone has been saying it the last 2 days, this is a desperate move. Why wouldn’t you give up the 3 picks for an impact guy on defense, the spot they are suffereing at most? And get a vet that can lead on and off the field. They are lacking a ton of leadership with the clubhouse atmosphere and the one thing this Dallas team needed most was a big time playmaker on defense that could lead. Everyone I talked to in the Dallas on Sunday said the same thing. How can any Cowboy fan be happy with this trade?

I agree as to why the Cowboys trade for a guy in a position that they are well off when they certainly could of traded for much needed help on defense although as the Cowboy blogger, I don’t think Cowboys think they need help on defense which is a mystery to me but oh well…..on another note, Romo is thinking he can play on Sunday so that should be interesting….lets hope St. Louis does not do an Arizona impersonation……

i heard mort or clayton on ESPN say they new they wouldn’t be able to find the defensive piece so they went after williams to be able to just out score teams.

I guess that makes sense for Dallas but so far Dallas has not been scoring and winning like last year so makes the Williams trade all that more interesting. Time will tell and I still have a lot of faith in the Cowboys coming together and getting a winning streak on the go but the Cowboys like most NFL teams out there are making it interesting…..I still would of rather seen a nice BIG lineman in the trade…..

I liked Williams when he was at Texas. Amazing how when they become pro and get big bucks for playing they develop a dive like personality.

I know Dallas has other needs, but as far as getting an impact player, I like it. Imagine if the Eagles gave up that for Williams. I would like it a lot.

First round picks are over hyped a ton. Most flop. Why not pay money for a known commodity.

Just like all the people who complained when Dallas gave Romo $30 mill guaranteed. That was after 20+ games of showing he was good. Compare to the Raiders giving Jamarcus Russell a huge deal for doing well against a lot of players who didnt even make the NFL.

I dont blame the Eagles for often avoiding 1st round picks. I think they are generally a waste.

Agree Glenn, a lineman for sure on either side of the ball. I guess Cowboys fans are seeing why Leonard Davis was such a bust in AZ!

The difference is most owners have balls to make these type of deals. On the Eagles side of things they haven’t let theres drop yet.

We have 2 first round picks and can deal 1 of them and yet we don’t, I will even bet we end up dealing 1 of them anyway but only at the draft or leading up to it.

Will be an interesting weekend as to Williams being part of the Cowboy offence and if he gets more throws than TO seeing TO is saying how happy he is to have Williams in Dallas. Defense I still say wins any professional sport but if you can score 40 points a game and only give up 30 than you still win…..???????…..a lot of teams are giving too much money to a lot of players way too fast without the player proving themself but only the odd time does it backfire…..Felix Jones should be a good example of a solid draft pick and hoping he grows with the Cowboys in the manner a draft pick should….
