Eagles head into bye week with win

The Eagles finally scored a touchdown in the 2nd half, first time since week 2 of this young season. They for sure did not make this an easy win at all but they say a win is a win they all don’t have to be pretty.
In the first half they had very little moving the ball up and down the field punching it in from the red zone 2 out of 3 times. It still struggled against the run and only stopped the 49ers when they passed the ball a few times in a row and ended up holding them to 3 field goals.
What I do worry about is why when David Akers was attempting his 54 yard field goal the center of the line never blocked a soul and led to a 49er touchdown to end the 1st half.
In the 2nd half the Eagles still couldn’t stop the run till the 4th quarter when they just took over the game and seemed to make any and every play they needed to make on both sides of the ball. This was the quarter they showed flashes of what we saw in the game against the Rams. Maybe it’s something we see more often.
Revisiting my Keys to the game:
1. Consistency still lacked in this game. They ran into a rut moving the ball running and passing in the middle area of the game. Red zone was still a small issue but was a touch but special teams as a whole are getting worse, & defensively they are not finding their grove till later and later as games move on. It worked this week but will come back to bite them if it happens in futher games.
2. Stopping the running game and passing game of the 49ers as I mentioned not really done with any effectiveness till late 3rd and the entire 4th quarter.
3. Well they got Akers some chances but they will have some work to do on blocking for him to get the longer range kicks off. He has now missed 10 straight kicks beyond 45 yards, the length is there just not the accuracy.
4. This game they pretty much did use everybody they have expect for the backup tight end Celek. He is now being used more or less as the blocking tight end when L.J. Smith is healthy enough to suit up.
Up next is the bye week. The birds need to get healthy and work on each phase of the game to come back and hit the remaining games hard.

What a crazy game yesterday…..
I think there are a lot of similarities between the Eagles and Chargers, two teams that were supposed to contend this season and have been very inconsistent.
What a game by Buckhalter though, he has always been a little underutilized by the Eagles in my opinion. I think the Eagles should take advantage of his ability to run the ball in between the tackles a little more, maybe soften up the opposing D for Westbrook.

Only Philly and NE have gone across more than 2 timezones and come away with a win this year, both games coming in SF. I think teams were zero for nine on this stat heading into the last 2 games at SF. Get Westbrook healthy now and this team is for real!

I think they should as well he is a bigger back and is a solid compliment with westbrook.
What they lack is a true fullback.

Lorenzo Neal would have looked much better in Philly than in Baltimore!

The bye week will hopefully help his ribs. But I think they will be sore whenever he plays this season.
Time to get healthy and then prepare for the Falcons and hometown boy Matt Ryan.

I said the samething but who knows what Andy and company were thinking at the time.
What things this offense could do in the running game that could help the passing game would be endless.

He would be a massive addition and missing out on him has to hurt. Regardless, the Eagles are going to be okay, just stay healthy!

That is the thought of some here. The others wonder why we suddenly can’t stop the run and still have a hard time getting pressure with our down 4,
