Coach Jim Zorn’s Thoughts and Injury Report

Jim Zorn’s press conference after the Redskins beat the Eagles expressed his opinions on the team. The Rookie P Durant Brooks’ punts are declining. “Our punter has to improve his hangtime and distance,” he said plainly. “There’s not a whole lot we can say other than, ‘Yep, he’s gotta punt better.’” He is impressed with the running. “I looked at how violent our running backs play — those things impressed me,” He likes the Redskins team attitude and how the team is getting together to help Rookie WR Devin Thomas, who has had multiple offensive pass interference calls against him, which cost the Redskins many yards and first downs.
On injuries, DT Cornelius Griffin was scheduled for an MRI on his shoulder on Monday. Other injury news, DE Jason Taylor’s calf injury, which happened a couple weeks ago, was actually very serious. If doctors had not performed surgery on his calf, he might have lost his foot or even worse, died! “The injury, which Jim Zorn described as “compartment syndrome,” could have caused nerve damage and tissue necropsy and, if untreated, even death.” He may be out for a while now. As for Shawn Springs and Marcus Washington, we’ll know more Friday as to whether they’re practicing and available to play.
Hail to the Redskins.
