“Cyber” Sham…And Other Thoughts From Last Night’s RAW

Okay, a show of hands please….Who DOESN’T think that Stone Cold Steve Austin will be the special guest referee for the Batista-Y2J match and that Santino Marella won’t be facing the Honky Tonk Man?

Let me see..I come up with exactly zero hands.

Audience participation via online and telephone polls has become a standard of programming in 21st century America.  Wonderful concept, but does anyone really believe that they determine the outcome of anything?  Perhaps it’s just my own warped sensibilities, but I’d think you would have to be incredibly naive to buy into that notion.

Why not just name Stone Cold the referee now?  Do WWE fans really feel that desperate to have their input heard?

If so, I find it funny that literally hundreds of thousands of people would put forth the effort to cast a vote for the Honky Tonk Man, but millions cannot be bothered to vote in elections that may actually affect the direction of our country.

Other thoughts from last night’s show:

- Shawn Michaels has taken on what appears to be a serious rage disorder.  However, I was relieved to see that at least we weren’t going to be subjected to a Backlund-esque “What have I done?” moment after HBK wore out Lance Cade with that chair.

- Johnny Knoxville might be the coolest 68 year old on the planet.  Man, does that guy look ancient up close.

- I’ve been saying it for years:  It’s painful to watch Mark Henry attempt to wrestle.  If I had to choose between watching Henry or Paul Birchill, I believe I’d pull an Elvis and shoot my television.

- “Hi, I’m Dolph Zigler.  Even Tony Atlas is in a position to snub me.”

- That was a ridiculous intricate kick that Kofi Kingston executed against Lil’ Dibiase.  That guy just impresses me more and more every week.

- Though I’m a big fan of both teams, having Cryme Tyme and Miz/Morrison talk smack to each other during the Kelly Kelly-Jillian match was not the wisest move the writers could have made.  I’d be in favor of a segment in the ring similar to some of the debates the WWE has hosted, but the whole thing was distracting, hard to hear and just fell flat.

- Why is Mickie James being saddled with this Jamie Noble angle?  What more does this woman have to do to prove she deserves better treatment?

- Finally, why would Chris Jericho’s appearance be forever marred by a simple chipped tooth?  I have to believe the WWE has a pretty darn good dental plan.

you nailed it right on the head with the the ref and stone cold thing as well as on the honky tonk man. again, you are right on the mark with regards to the voting too.

I am so tired of JBL, enough!
