Lester looks pretty good. Mows down the first three Angels.

Hmm, well Lackey looks pretty good too. Three up, three down. Could be another great pitching duel gearing up in Boston.

Lester gives up a two hit walk followed by a single to Juan Rivera, but gets Howie Kendrick swinging in just three pitches.
Kendrick really needs to be more patient out there.

Double play gets the Angels out of trouble in the second. Angels seem really grouchy about the strike zone tonight.
Complaining about it rarely helps. Just ask the White Sox, it ends up being a distraction.

“Complaining about it rarely helps.”
Who are you, and what have you done with Nich Hall?

Angels strand more runners… Lester gets out of another two men on jam. Guerrerro did make Jon work for it though. Halos just need to keep the pressure on Lester. Francona didn’t handle his bullpen very economically last night.

You watch enough CFL football you realize officials just suck, Just like some slacker can ruin your Big Mac at one McDonald’s compared to another. Officiating can just plain suck.

John, I stand in the dugout stairwell glaring at the ground Lackey looks pretty dialed in right now. 3 up and down for the Sox.

Three up, three down for Lester. This game is moving like 10 times faster than last night.
Well at least to this point.

Lackey gets in his own jam, thanks to guess what? An Angels fielding error! Everyone hold their surprise. Runners on the corners two outs, and Lackey gets Jason Bay to pop out.

Certainly is an interesting strike zone tonight. Both those pitches were off the plate, although the second was closer.
Regardless after Lackey deals with runners on the corners Lester does.
Still scoreless.

After seeing the pitch trackers I’m a little miffed by that call. Both those pitches to Teixeira were in the exact same spot.
Interesting…

Kendrick bobble costs the Angels a run. Lackey really didn’t look happy about that. He does his job gets a ground ball that would have been a DP.
Instead Pedroia laces a double off Lackey to add another run.

Lester keeps the Angels down. Three up, three back down. Lester sits at 99 pitches, and the Angels have nine outs left to work with in their season.
They must keep the BoSox off the board.

Lackey keeps the Sox out. Gotta find that offense or its an all AL East ALCS.
Congrat BTW to the Rays and their fans. You guys deserve it. Can’t tell you how many times i’ve read about the Yanks and Sox “feasting” on the Rays.

Seventh inning stretch in Boston. Lester sets the Halos down in order. Only six outs left for Scioscia’s crew, but it will be the top of their order.
If Sweet Caroline comes on signaling the end of the Angels eighth without a run you have to think Papelbon will put a close on this Angels season.

Double play ends the seventh. Angels need their offense now. Figgins, Anderson, Teixeira coming up.
Hideki Okajima, the Sox setup man is coming in.
Hard to argue against Lester in this series. 13 innings no earned runs.

Angels finally come through with a big extra base hit. The Angels get to the Sox pen in the eighth.
With two outs Okajima walks Teixeira, then Masterson comes in and walks Guerrerro. And a wild pitch advances both runners in scoring position.
And Torrii Hunter drives them in with a 2 RBI single.

Scot Shields picks right up where he left off last night. Sends the Sox down 1-2-3.

Lead off double from pinch hitter Kendry Morrales. And just like last night Howie Kendrick bunts him to third.
Man on third with one out and Manny Delcarmen is coming in for the Sox.

Angels try the suicide squeeze and Aybar misses the bunt, a critical error and Willits the pinch runner gets caught on the basepath. But you have to try for the win right?

Sox win it in the ninth. Clutch double followed by a two out single from Jed Lowrie.
Great end to a great series.
Time for a long walk. Thanks for reading this year guys. I’ll post a recap soon.

Thanks for the nice work on the ingame blogs Nich!
What a finish. I watched bits and pieces of this game.

I absolutely hated that call by Scioscia. At least do a safety squeeze, since Wilits is fast enough to score if Aybar lays it down, and if he misses, you don’t get caught up in non man’s land. Another example of overmanaging, and it cost the Angels a chance to play in Game 5 IMO.
