In what many were considering a possible trap game for the Chicago Bears this weekend, Chicago did exactly what they needed to do; win in a dominant fashion. From the opening kickoff the Bears controlled the game, and put another nail in the coffin for a Detroit Lions team that remains winless. The Bears are now 3-2, atop the NFC North after their convincing 34-7 win. This was also the Bears first non-Sunday night win, which will help Bears fans sleep a little easier tonight as well. The Bears continue their road trip next week against the surprising Atlanta Falcons, who have remained competitive this season despite overwhelming odds. Looking at the Keys to the Bears win over Detroit:
1. Stop Rudi: The Bears defence was extremely solid for all 60 minutes, allowing Kevin Smith and Rudi Johnson to run for only 54 yards combined. It looks like Jon Kitna’s time as starting QB is also running out, as he was chased out of the game to be replace by Dan Orlovsky in the second half.
2. Step Up With Lloyd Out: The Bears receivers impressed once again this week, with several players sharing the load as has been the case over the past few weeks. With starter Brandon Lloyd out of the lineup, Devin Hester stepped up once again, earning his paycheque for the week with 5 receptions for 66 yards and a touchdown (for the second week in a row). Greg Olsen has rebounded from a slow start, collection almost 90 yards, while Rashied Davis (who had an excellent preseason) lead all Bears receivers with just under 100 yards. Marty Booker, who was questionable heading into Sunday, contributed another 40 yards as well.
3. Repeats from Kyle and Matt: Kyle Orton is finally winning me over, playing a very sound game this week. Going 24/34, for 334 yards and 2 touchdowns, with 0…yes I said 0 interceptions. I wonder how Rex is enjoying being the waterboy on the sidelines. This was Orton’s best game of the season hands down, and a repeat performance like this next week is hopefully not too much to ask for.
As far as RB Matt Forte is concerned, does anyone else believe this kid could be as dominant as LT one day? He can run, he can catch, he can do it all. Another amazing game from the rookie this week, who found the endzone again with not one but 2 touchdowns. He has been the gem of the Bears all season, and there is a bright bright future awaiting this man down the road…hopefully in a Bears’ uniform.
Notes:
- As I said before, the Bears defense looked great this week, sacking Kitna and Orlovsky for a combined 4 times, with an interception. Charles Tillman did end up playing, making the pick against Orlovsky.
- K Robbie Gould should be dubbed Mr. Consistent, going 2/2 in FGs (with a 45 yarder) and 4 extra points. He scored more points than the Lions as a whole this week, why did we bother dressing the rest of the team??
Stay tuned for Wednesday. Go Bears!
-Will

I really thought it was a trap game, especially with the Lions off the bye week. Totally wrong!
Who is on deck for Chicago? Dominant game for the Bears today! Man the Lions are miserable!
