I could begin this article by lamenting the Chargers poor performance earlier today against Miami, or by trying to highlight the reasons why San Diego lost. Although I’m sure both of these approaches would be entertaining, they wouldn’t sufficiently demonstrate just how bad the Chargers played today. If we really want to understand how bad San Diego played on both sides of the ball, only the numbers will tell the story….
Total Net Yards
Miami - 390
San Diego - 202
Time Of Possession
Miami - 36:41
San Diego - 23:19
First Downs
Miami - 23
San Diego - 10
Rushing Yards
Miami - 167
San Diego - 60
Third Down Efficiency
Miami - 7/14
San Diego - 3/12
Red Zone Efficiency
Miami - 2/2
San Diego - 1/3
When you look at how badly San Diego was outplayed, it’s amazing that the Chargers only lost by a touchdown. The Miami running game created problems for San Diego throughout the game, consistently moving the chains and frustrating the Chargers defence with a variety of unconventional formations. The Chargers offence didn’t play much better, struggling with a ferocious Miami front seven that consistently caused problems for Rivers and Tomlinson. Overall, San Diego didn’t deserve to win this game. If you exclude the strong performances of CB Antonio Cromartie and P Mike Scifres, the Chargers were outplayed at every single position….including the coaching staff.
The Chargers will return to San Diego where they will host Matt Cassel and the New England Patriots next Sunday night. Let’s hope that the Chargers are a little more motivated and prepared to play next week.

Rivers and LT were such non-factors today, very surprising. Norv Turner continues to get outcoached week in and out. The Fins scheming caused him fits!

ya unlike the Pats the Chargers should of been ready for the silly formations the Dolphins have. I would be very concerned at this point if I was a Chargers fan. Turner should not make it out of the season as the coach of this club.
