Rays take Game 2 of the ALDS 6-2 from Chicago. Sox/Angels is now just minutes away and should start as scheduled at 9:37.
Tonight in Anaheim
Overnight Low of 62 with clear skies and a 10% chance of precipitation.
Wind: From the NNE 8 MPH
Posted: 10/03/08 at 6:39 pm
8MPH, eh? So will that be a factor in determining the outcome of tonight’s game?

Worst possible start for the Angels. Sox strike on three consecutive singles, followed by a Jason Bay three run homer to take a 4-0 lead.
Posted: 10/03/08 at 6:42 pm
30 Pitch inning for Santana as the Halos dig themselves a huge hole early.
Gut check time in L.A.
4-0 Sox B1

Stunner to say the least

Jason Bay is from BC, right? Same area as Larry Walker, I think…

Angels respond with a 2 out rally of their own. Three consecutive singles score Teixeira to get the Angels on the board. Signs of life from L.A.
4-1 Sox T2

They are both from B.C. along the coast of Washington. But seven hours apart. Walker just outside of Burnaby and Bay is from Trail, BC which is basically the middle of nowhere.

Almost a 2 run homer, ouch…….Santana is getting into trouble again.

Santana flirts with danger again you’re right. Thankfully the Big A has those extra few feet in the corner. 45 Pitches from Santana through just two innings. I wonder if this lead holds if Scioscia would consider Garland or Weaver….
4-1 Sox B2

Seems like our resident blogger may not be the only one to have underestimated the Sox…

I don’t recall underestimating the Sox. In fact I called the fact Lester would best Lackey.
Wait until Matsuzaka leaves this game around the six, and the Sox pen has to carry the mail.

Three up, three down for Dice-K. But the Angels are getting good contact.
4-1 Sox T3

True but Santana can’t give up too many more runs or its over. If the Angels start to press too early like the Cubs last night, they will be in quite a hole heading to Boston.

1-2-3 inning for Santana, not sure I’d call it easy though.
Zach your absolutely right, the Angels hitters have to be patient. Waiting for the right pitch against Dice-K is the key.
4-1 Sox B3

3-4-5 slot continues to produce for the Angels. Hunter certainly looked safe, by the tie, to me. Dice-K is fair game tonight. The Halos have to get a man on to start an inning.
4-1 Sox T4

Too close to call, means runner is safe on the tie.
Posted: 10/03/08 at 7:39 pm
Sox add another to make it 5-1. 7 two out hits by the Sox in this game have made all the difference. It’d be nice if Rivera could at least jump at the ball there.
5-1 Sox B4

Angels get a little offense but not enough. They need a big hit, anything but a single would exponentially increase the Halos chances.
That being said nice 3-2 single by Figgins draws the Halos one run closer.
5-2 Sox T5

I was surprised too. Home team not getting any calls.
Posted: 10/03/08 at 8:05 pm
Badly needed 1-2-3 inning from Santana. Time for the 3-4-5 spot of Halos lineup; Teixeira, Guerrerro, Hunter.
They could really use a two base hit or more…
5-2 Sox B5

Another long ball to warning and at the wall. One of these times those long balls are going to clear the wall.
Posted: 10/03/08 at 8:14 pm
Two straight walks from Dice-K to start the inning, time for some damage… before Delcarmen comes in.
Posted: 10/03/08 at 8:20 pm
Here come the Angels!
Posted: 10/03/08 at 8:22 pm
Huge strikeout for Dice K with 2 on and nobody out.
