Bengals sign Benson

The Bengals have signed Cedric Benson to provide some depth in the backfield.  With De De Dorsey out for the year and Kenny Watson questionable for Sunday, there was an obvious need.  It escapes me as to how he was chosen ahead of Shaun Alexander.  Perhaps it has something to do with age?  (Benson is 25 and Alexander is 31)

Given the increased sensitivity toward players who have problems with the law it surprises me that the Bengals management went in this direction.  Benson is five days removed from two Texas grand juries deciding not to indict him on charges of boating while intoxicated, resisting arrest in May and driving while intoxicated in June during two incidents that forced his release from the Bears.  Bengals management is nothing if not consistently inconsistent.

I personally would have looked to Alexander especially due his expressed desire to play in Cincy.  Hopefully Benson proves me wrong and helps turn around this disaster.  Don’t blame me if I don’t hold my breath….

Not that at this point it will be that great of any help to them but it’s about time they signed somebody to help out the poor running game. Just agree I would have thought Alexander would have been the one to go towards not Benson.

I believe they consult Al Davis on any and all personelle decisions.

Al Davis was once a very good football guy but so was every great coach or GM, at some point you have to move on.

Getting Benson before the Steelers has to be a nice score for your team.
