Are the Bengals the worst team in football?.. with a little luck…

Sorry for the hiatus Bengals fan but a couple of weeks have passed with a couple more losses piled up in Cincy.  If you thought last year was bad, this year they are in a heated race for the worst record in football and they are holding their own. In the battle for this coveted crown there are but four contenders… the Texans, the Lions, the Rams and the Bengals. At the time of writing this the only 0-4 teams are St. Louis and Cincinnati so we’ll give the Lions and the Texans a pass.
The Rams are horrible, even their mothers are in agreement. With 43 points for and 147 against, they are almost unstoppable so far. They are truly on a historic pace to lose out and go 0-16. To me this is an accomplishment that would make the Dolphins perfect season pale by comparison, I guess it is just me. But wait, there is hope, today the Rams let go of Linehan. They could turn it around and gut out a couple of wins based on the injection of new blood and the fight for jobs.Â
This is your chance Lewis. They don’t have their eye on the prize. They are distracted and in disarray. You my friend are focused… who needed three former pro-bowlers? Cut those guys, go with youth and inexperience. Deltha O’Neal, come on who needed a cover corner with experience. Willie Anderson, the rock of an offensive line, blah. Rudi Johnson, no way, let’s give the ball to an injury plagued Perry. Now the lineup is set. With a little luck… injury to your quarterback perhaps… the record will be yours.
All sarcasm aside, what is going on with this team? As I have said consistently the problem is Lewis and no-one but Lewis. The offensive game plan is awful without any balance whatsoever. Their top back is averaging 2.8 yds per carry and defenses are blanketing the wideouts. The once vaunted offensive line is now porous and unable to support a running game. Not to mention that they have already allowed 12 sacks in 4 games compared with 17 all of last year. The injury to Palmer was devastating. Ryan Fitzpatrick’s three interceptions were a result of his lack of experience combined with a Browns defense that had no concern about Perry.  Johnson and Houshmandzadeh had no space in the secondary and the defense was completely disorganized, costing two timeouts in the second half because of too many men on the field. This is unacceptable and all comes back to coaching.
The wheels are off the cart and it’s time for management to realize this is not going to turn around under Lewis. He doesn’t have the answers. Perhaps he could have new t-shirts printed… perhaps he could look for another experienced pro-bowler to cut… it is time to bring his reign to an end and take a team that still has pieces of the puzzle in a new direction or we’ll see a lot more of this…

I’d say Detroit and St. Louis are probably worse, but Cincinnati’s not far off..

I wonder when Chad Ocho Stinko will start causing problems. It is only a matter of time before he blows up…

At least heads are rolling in Detroit and St. Louis. It boggles my mind that the Bengals have the talent at key positions that they do and with a record like this, no-one has been fired.

Perhaps he is smarter than I give hime credit for? Why blow up yourself when the whole ship is sinking?

He could do that to try to get traded if he wants out…

STL has to top the list. The Texans are the best 0-3 team right now, lol if there is such a thing.
