Cito Gaston signed a two-year contract extension with the Toronto Blue Jays. Toronto has a 49-36 record since Gaston replaced John Gibbons on June20. The Blue Jays are 84-75 overall. “It’s something that, from Day One, J.P. and I talked about,” Gaston said, referring to general manager J.P. Ricciardi. “We talked about coming back for one year, but two years is great.” Gaston, 64, managed the Blue Jays from 1989 to 1997 and led the team to four playoff appearances and two World Series titles.
What do you all think? I think Gaston’s made a huge difference….how much difference can a manager really make though?

Hey you can’t complain - Cito was the man in TO during the 90’s and is turning the club around. Sadly, I bet he won’t be with them to see is foundation work pay off - but I know it will. Back to Back Championships to his credit you all wait and see!

Yeah he’s definitely an upgrade over Gibbons. A good manager can make a difference they say of about 3-6 games in a season. I’d say the Jays got their money’s worth with Cito.
Only bad news is Riccardi is most likely back after getting the vote of confidence from the owner.

JP being brought back for an 8th or 9th year it is now, unreal! This guy told everyone he had a 5 year plan, well that certainly hasnt worked out. As for Cito, if he had of been in TO since day one, we would be talking about the Blue Jays getting ready for the playoffs. There is no better one-two tandem in pitching than Halladay and Burnett!

If Burnett comes back…

They offered another two years at even more money for him to stay on. Should be interesting! At least CEO Godfrey resigned today!
