Rams 13 Seahawks 37 - Week Three - Postgame

The Rams continued their rough start to the season in Seattle yesterday losing 37-13 to the Seahawks. For the third consecutive week, the Rams struggled to find any rhythm on offense or defense, by scoring less than 14 points on offense and allowing more than 30 points on defense.

In the three games this season, the Rams have also allowed over 400 total yards to their opponents. That is horrible to say the least. As well, I have not seen a team miss more tackles this season than the Rams.

Against Seattle this trend continued. I don’t know how much film session the team is doing but for the same mistakes to be happening over and over doesn’t bode well for defensive coordinator Jim Haslett’s future.

Coach Scott Linehan is on the hot seat as well. It is common in professional sports that since you can’t get rid of all the players, the coach is the one who gets the axe first. Well Mr. Linehan, you are official on my chopping block. If the Rams cannot get a win at home this week against the 3-0 Buffalo Bills, you could see a new coach in St. Louis after the Week 5 bye. Although from what I hear, Linehan is well liked, his time may be running out and the Rams might need a new voice on the sidelines.

Where were the Rams stars on offense? Bulger, Jackson, and Holt continued their tough starts to the season. Bulger was 18/31 for 184 yards, 1 TD and 1 INT. Jackson carried the ball 23 times for 66 yards. He also had 5 receptions for 62 yards. Holt had 4 receptions for 37 yards. When your best players are not performing even up to an average level, as these stat lines suggest, you won’t win many football games.

So where can the team go from here? It looks like they have decided to pack in the season. The game plan for yesterday was to keep it close at halftime. But the Seahawks, much like I said, came out firing and by halftime the game was 27-6 and all but over for the Rams.

Now to make things more difficult, the Rams will have to face the 3-0 Bills at the Edward Jones Dome this Saturday. The Bills are for real. They are a well rounded team on offense, defense, and especially speciality teams. The Rams can only hope they don’t bring their A game on Sunday. It might be their only chance for a team struggling to find a spark so far this season.

Hate to say it Femi, but the Rams might be the worst team in the NFL. They’d lose to the Chiefs at this point.

Well Dave it has to be said. They are playing like a team just going through the motions. Their play is unacceptable and changes will have to be made if it continues.

It was only a matter of time before there was a changing of the guard in the NFC West. Through three weeks, the Cards and Niners look like significantly better teams than Seattle and St. Louis.

Wow! Buffalo will be up against a team who may be playing for their coach for a second straight week. You stated that he is well liked, and I wonder if you think that may be enough for the Rams to get fired up and win their next one for him. I certainly hope not, at least not this week, but I think that often goes a long way for a team.

Couldn’t agree more. The Rams are struggling to score and defend. Something that does not look good for them as they continue to face a tough test in the Bills this week.

I think that in their bye, there could be a change. But who knows about the Rams franchise at this point. They are in a werid position right now. Are they rebuilding? Are they not? Their situation will take many weeks to fully sort out.
