I was really emotional these last two days. Sorry, but it was emotional for me to hear about the passing of the little general Ron Lancaster. I hated him on the field only because he was always very good against the Stamps.
He was one of the best quarterbacks in the League for making comebacks with the Riders; you never counted the Riders out when there was still time. I swear he could squeeze a lemon out of stone when it came to find time on the clock. I could just post all sort of numbers and stats for Lancaster. For example, winning one Grey Cup as a coach. Did you know that Lancaster was named outstanding player twice in his career? Did you know that Lancaster led the Riders to the playoffs 14 out of 16 years while he played for the Riders? Lancaster was all Canadian four times and all Western 7 times. But no, I won’t mention his numbers because they will answer for themselves. What those numbers won’t say is the love he had for his fellow beings. The class he portrayed as a human being an ambassador for the League. He will always be known as Mr. Rider, but to me he will always be known as a Hero. God Bless the Little General.

STAMPS 34 ARGOS 4
The Calgary Stampeders laid a licking on the Argos, who looked lifeless throughout the game. The Argos turned the ball over constantly throughout the game. That being said, if the Argos could have held onto the ball a couple of times in the first half, it could have been closer - a heck of a lot closer.
First Quarter
The first quarter was uneventful, as both teams exchanged field goals and the Stamps got out of the first quarter ahead 4-3.
Second Quarter
The Stamps score an early touchdown, marching on 8 plays 2.59 on the clock. As a misdirection play, faking a handoff up the middle and Burris tossing a one yard touchdown pass to Labinjo (I am sure it is his first touchdown pass of the year, and maybe his career). The Argos were very bad offensively. They could not do much at all in the game period. The second touchdown came as for some reason the Argos forgot to guard Lewis. Lewis was wide open for a 19 yard pass from Burris and the Stamps had a huge 21-3 lead.
The first half was mired by huge Argo’s miscues. The first being Johnston fumbling the ball on the Stamp’s 35 yard line. The second being McNeal carrying the ball like a bread basket, getting it punched out and recovered by Carpenter. Then there was the procedure penalty that stopped a third and on gamble and forced the Argos to punt the ball.
Third Quarter
The Argos had their best drive of the game in third quarter. The next thing that happens exemplifies the Argos’ performance. Vanderjagt misses a chip shot 21-4. Vanderjagt then gets sacked as he has to bring down the ball so it does not get blocked. The Stamps settle on a Sandro field goal. The score is now 24-4. Picket then does maybe his worst play and overthrows a receiver right into Lysack, who returns 56 yards to the promised land. 31-4 Stamps.
Fourth Quarter
The Argos have a wonderful run of 32 yards then Dorsey wiped out with a fumble by Robinson, who muffed the hand off at the Stamps 5 yard line. That pretty much sums up the game for the Argos, who seemed to take two steps back for every step forward. Sandro ends the scoring with another field goal. Final score 34-4 Stamps.
