Rams Midweek Chat - Week 2

The Rams, after two weeks of the 2008 NFL season, stand at 0-2. Two losses to the NFC East, one to the Philadelphia Eagles and the other to the NY Giants. Two losses by way of blowout, with the Rams being outscored 79 - 16 during these games.

This team needs a break. It is time to regroup after two humiliating defeats and see what can be corrected in time for their Week 3 match up against divisional rival, the Seattle Seahawks.

When you get outscored in two games by over 60 points, it is suffice to say the defense is not doing its job. When you score only 16 points in two games, the same can be said about the offense. This is the problem the Rams face. Their defensive and offensive play has been completely non-existent, through these first two weeks of the season.

A solution to this goes beyond how much film the players are going to watch, or how hard they say they want to play for the next game. It falls on their desire to go out on the field and want to win, not to just go through the motions and get paid to do so. Although the Rams did face two tough teams through the first week weeks, it is no excuse. A team, who has 60 000 fans paying their way to get through the gate, owes it to them to play better than this.

The Rams poor play has even caught the eye of owner, Chip Rosenbloom, who on Monday promised changes after the season if the team does not improve their play.

Right now the Rams are just going through the motions. If a Week 3 matchup agiainst a division rival does not inspire a more complete effort on both sides of the ball, coach Linehan might be packing his bags sooner than he expected.

I say get rid of Linehan. This team has talent. The defense need’s to “bring it” this week against a beat up Seattle offense. If Koren Robinson and Kerry Colbert put up huge numbers this week then they should sweep that coaching staff outta there.

I agree totally. If this defense cannot stop a team with an injury plagued wide receiver core, basically journeymen at that position, I would be very open to changes. This is a very big game for the Rams. It could decide some players/coaches futures.

Its fun to wake up every morning and wonder if your team still has a coach, isn’t it?
