What we learned from Week 2 in the NFL!!

Only 2 weeks into the NFL season fans everywhere are aleady wondering if their favourite team might miss the playoffs.  Now alot can happen between now and January but many teams do set the tone early on in the season by making a statement.  It never hurts to get off to a great start while getting off to a slow start tends to have teams chasing all year and more than not usually end up on the outside looking in come playoff time.

What teams are suprises at 2-0?  Green Bay, Arizona and Carolina in the NFC.  In the AFC, Buffalo, Tennessee and Denver.  Starting in the NFC, the Packers are a pleasant surprise with Aaron Rodgers leading the way.  Not too many people gave the Packers a chance after all that happened with the Brett Favre departure.  The Cardinals look very good to start the year but again, lets see how this team does on the road where they have struggled mightily, even last year when they went a decent 8-8.   Week 3 is a huge test for this team.  Lastly, the Panthers had huge wins over two very quality opponents in San Diego and Chicago.  They did it with strong defense and the arm of Jake Delhomme.  The running game is fine with the departure of DeShawn Foster with Jonathon Stewart picking up the slack.

On the AFC side of things, all three undefeated teams are big surprises with the Bills leading the way.  A big home win over Seattle to start the year set the tone and then a massive road win against Jacksonville has propelled the Bills to much bigger expectations in such a short time.  Next up, the Titans who started the year on a positive and without Vince Young to boot.  It has been strong special teams and a great defense that has got the Titans thinking big this year.  The offense has managed the game well, which has allowed this Tennessee team to have big expectations.  Lastly, the Broncos might be the biggest surprise.  Counted out my many, this team has relied on upstart QB David Cutler to show his potential star qualities while the defense continues to get it done.   One thing to note when looking at the Titans and Broncos is their experienced coaching staff.  The small things go a long way in determining a teams success and Mike Shanahan and Jeff Fisher are definitely two of the better coaches in the NFL.

When looking at the winless teams after Week 2 a few teams jump to mind as surprises.  San Diego, Jacksonville and Cleveland in the AFC while in the NFC, Seattle and Minnesota might be in for long seasons after suffering tough last second losses in Week 2.

Thankfully the Chargers schedule sets up very well in the coming weeks so they should be able to rebound from the crushing 0-2 start.  The Browns felt they could make the playoffs and improve on their 9-7 record of last season but they have a very tough schedule and after facing two of the better teams in the NFL in Dallas and Pittsburgh, Cleveland is already in a must win situation come this Sunday.  The Jags are in a similar boat with losses to Buffalo and Tennessee, Jacksonville can ill afford an 0-3 start in the very tough AFC.

I am curious to hear your take on what teams move to 3-0 or what teams end up starting 0-3.
Of the 2-0 teams(Dallas, NYG, Green Bay, Carolina, Arizona, New England, Buffalo, Pittsburgh, Tennessee, Denver) which of these 10 teams move to 3-0?

Of the 0-2 teams(Miami, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Houston, Jacksonville, San Diego, Kansas City, Seattle, St. Louis, Minnesota and Detroit) which of these 11 teams drop to 0-3?

We are looking for 4 NFL bloggers.  Carolina, Minnesota, Atlanta and Kansas City are teams we need a blogger to join us at the site.  If you know of anyone please send them my way!!

I like the Packers, Giants, Patriots, Bills, and Titans to be 3-0 and the Dolphins, Bengals, Chiefs, and Rams to hit 0-3. The Texans will be 0-2

    Jamie Van Dusen Says:

Buffalo, New England (could they get an easier schedule), Giants, Steelers and Dallas will all be 3-0.

I agree Kevin, the Browns are in a definite must win this week. They can’t afford to lose to another division rival and go behind 2 games to another division team.

If the Browns lose, insert Brady Quinn in Week 4!

We are past Brady. As coach BB said in his press conference, we’re sorry Tom’s hurt but we have to move on. It’s Matt Cassels team this year and while he might have a couple low points in the year, the team will be fine come playoff time

They wont make playoffs, stop dreaming Jim! LOL!

I think Sandy was talking Brady Quinn though.
