Steelers Battle Weather to take down Browns

Ben Roethlisberger battled through a separated shoulder and the weather to lead the Pittsburgh Steelers to a 2-0 start. The game really didn’t have too much excitement, as both teams battled the elements.
Â
Willie Parker got his second straight 100 yard game and seems to have not missed a beat. The Steelers continue to bring their top two picks from the draft along very slowly. Limas Sweed once again didn’t dress and currently sits 5th on the depth chart. Parker finished with 109 yards on the ground and quarterback, Ben Roethlisberger, gave high praise to his offensive line;
Â
“The offensive line did a great job,” said quarterback Ben Roethlisberger. “They have a great defense. You have to give a lot of credit to our offensive line. Willie Parker ran the ball great at the end. The offensive line, I have to give them a lot of credit.”
Â
The win against the Browns marked the Steelers tenth straight win against Cleveland and put them in very good shape to repeat as division champs. Although early in the season, the Steelers look primed and ready for the rest of the season.
Â
They will certainly be put to the test this weekend when they face the Philadelphia Eagles who have to be considered as one of the early powerhouse teams. If the Eagles can bounce back from their epic tilt against the Cowboys on Monday night, this should shape up to be a real dog fight.
Â
I’ll be back later in the week with my game preview.

What a game this Sunday will be, Pitt at Philly! Really looking forward to it. What is the status on Ben?

Gotta be honest I think the birds will struggle against the steelers.

Ben’s shoulder will take a few weeks to heal fully, but he says he’s fine to go. We did lose Keisel for two months though which will put a small hole in the defence.
I certainly hope you’re right James! I’m definitely looking forward to this one that’s for sure.

Possible letdown too! But it is a long season!

Steelers/Broncos in the AFC final this season.

Lots can happen, but I just dont think Denver has the depth, just my opinion. Neither team might make it that far, who knows. Great to talk about though!

people will start to get on the Broncos bus soon…
I really like the Steelers this season. heck when you have a guys like Heath Miller not even being used besides blocking you have a real nice O. With the Pats going down in the AFC I think the Steelers are the favorite to win the conference…

Steelers have one hell of a tough schedule though. If they can somehow get homefield then yes they would be the fav. If they dont, they will have a much harder time coming out of the AFC.

The Broncos wideouts are rather impressive, especially if Royal can keep up his pace.
With the Steelers they havent’ even used Holmes much either. Their offence look good and will only get better and their defence are playing out of their minds. They have a tough schedule that should toughen them up just nicely for the playoffs.

Well when the schedule came out this was one of the games I thought they would struggle with anyway. They normally have had a very tough time going agains the steelers.
Only thing that may work for the Eagles as of right now is having gone against a 3 - 4 style scheme with Dallas.

Do the Steeler plan at all to use Dennis Dixon in the offense even if it’s for a trick play ?
September 16th, 2008 at 11:33 am
ya I agree I think a tough sched sometimes is just what the doc orders. I think this battle tested Steelers team will be a force. Never start to judge a season until after the first 4 weeks of a season.

I have not heard anything about Dixon being used in the offence, but the Steelers are definately a team that like the gadget plays, so I would never rule anything out.

Very true Sandy! We know anything can happen, case and point Tom Brady.
Tell me how the Pats got off with such an easy schedule. They are going to have their wakeup call once they start playing some real teams.
September 16th, 2008 at 12:54 pm
Honestly, they have to get Dixon involved in the offense, he is a major threat when on the field!

I can concur with that, however, if they continue to win and stay healthy, I think all teh rookies will have a tough time cracking the lineup full time. They tend to do that with their draft studs, case and point Woodley and Timmons.

Randle El and Kordell Stewart were guys they got on the field but that was in the Cowher era.
