Giants 41 Rams 13 Week Two POSTGAME

The Rams continued their struggles against the NFC East, suffering a 41-13 defeat to the NY Giants on Sunday. With the score 13-6 at halftime, the Rams stayed in this one as long as they could on the strength of two Josh Brown 54 yard field goals. But in the end the Giants offense and defense was just too much outscoring the Rams 28-7 in the final two quarters.
Where to begin with the offensive stars on the Rams. Their performances were subpar. Very similar to last week’s 38-3 loss to Philadelphia. Bulger was 20/32 for 177 yards and 1 TD and 1 INT, while also being sacked 6 times. Steven Jackson only managed 53 yards on the ground on 13 attempts. WR Torry Holt had 6 receptions for 76 yards and a touchdown.
Defensively, the Rams were better than they were in their season opener. They allowed only 441 total yards to last weeks 520. Needless to say, that is a pitful performance if that is the only real “positive”. The defense has to tighten up. Right now teams can do whatever they want, run or pass, and the Rams offer up no ways to stop them.
Chris Long got his first NFL sack. Good for him, but the team result is still the same. Individual performances will continue to take a back seat for this team until they can play as a team for a full 60 minutes.
With the history of team’s coming back from 0-2 starts to make post season play stacked heavily against them, the Rams face a tough challenge. Although the same team which they played today, the NY Giants, did just that and one the Super Bowl, the Rams are a far less talented team.
Plus with next week facing the 0-2 Seattle Seahawks in Seattle, and the 2-0 Buffalo Bills before their week 5 bye, the road will only get tougher, not easier for St. Louis to get in the win column. Hoepfully for them there is still time to turn it around. Another season lost so soon would be a shame.

Honestly, the Rams were in it, down a TD early 4th Q….and then they blew it badly!

What do you think about the comments from Marshall Faulk?
I thought they were pretty amusing, and he was probably right about how he could put up some decent numbers against that D.
Personally, I’m surprised Haslett still has a job coaching in this league.
they may as well just fire him now.

It does look like a long one indeed.

I think that his comments were justified…to a certain extent. Faulk is speaking out of the mindset of a former player, a player who with St. Louis he enjoyed a great deal of success, culminating in the Rams Super Bowl win in 1999.
He is a player who speaks his mind, and with the way the Rams are going, there is plenty to talk about. I don’t have problems with former players calling others, especially when they played with them. He knows who they are and what they can do better than any person outside that locker room does.
The team needs better direction…they have to decide if they want to compete or not. Because right now they are pretty lifeless. Don’t fire coaches yet…don’t do anything drastic yet. Let’s see how this team plays into their bye week in week 5.
