Usually I don’t agree with knee jerk firings, but this really had to be done. Yost has made a lot of questionable moves this year, and not starting CC in the biggest series of the year was one of them.
The brewers are going for it this year, and they may not have another run in them in the future with the departures of Sabathia, and possibly Sheets. Plus Fielder could be moved due to his contract demands, and without LaPorta to replace him, they are basically all in.
This is a desperate move, but it makes sense.

I agree that this is it for the Brewers. Once they lose half their starting rotation, they won’t have the horses to do it next year

True Jim, but don’t forget about Gallardo, who if healthy would be #3 behind Sheets and Sabathia right now. I think he can replace Sheets in production next year, but losing Sabathia will be felt in that rotation.
Then again they could increase their win total by about 5-10 games if Melvin could just build a semi-decent bullpen (minus Mota, Shouse and Gagne).

It would be interesting to see if they had CC all season, what the difference in their win total woud be

I’d say about 4-5 games, which right now would have them sitting comfortably. But on the flip side, imagine Cleveland stayed competitive a bit longer than they didn’t trade CC til the All-star break. Where would the Brewers be then, probably sitting next to St. Louis.
