Philly and Dallas re-new their rivalry on Monday night football!!

This Monday night has the Philadelphia Eagles (1-0) heading into Dallas to play the Dallas Cowboys(1-0).  First road game or the Eagles and first home game for the Cowboys.  As a note, the last home opener at Texas Stadium as the Cowboys will move to their new stadium next season.

I don’t think it is news to anyone that these two teams really do hate each other.  In fact I think these cities hate each other as a whole.  Both these teams will play again but not until Week 17 which I personally think is a mistake by the NFL schedulers although it could be an important game as far as playoffs, home field go.

Both teams come into Week 2 with BIG expectations for this season.  Both got off to excellent starts to the season last week with convincing wins against their respective opponents.

James, the Eagle blogger threw in some historic facts about the two teams so I will not repeat them but check out his blog for some head-to-head comparisons.   James also picked the Eagles to win which we know is just not true (right James-just kidding).  It will be a great game start to finish with both teams giving as most football players do 110%.

Romo, Witten, Owens, A. Jones, F. Jones, O-line, the whole D of the Cowboys, this spells 2-0 in my dictionary but I will put the emphasis on the Cowboy defence as at times it can show some holes and the whole Dallas D has to show up HUGE if the Cowboys plan on getting to  2-0.

Cowboy RB Marion Barber is listed as probable for Monday night.  Again no one will know how much but for the Cowboy fans out there, let’s hope his presence is noted by the Eagle D-line and secondary.  When Barber is not on the field, look for RB Felix Jones to get lots of playing time for his second professional football game of his career.  The important part is in only his second game of his professional football career, can F. Jones block the Eagle linebackers on a blitz and save Romo from more stitches.

Both teams will bring their A-games and well I do not like to make predictions, I am certain the game should be close and the final score to be somewhere in the range of 24-21 Cowboys with the winning score being a N. Folk field goal.  I am convinced the team that brings the better defence to the field will win and well I know that is a no-brainer, in the football world, defence does win football games.

Have a look at James Centifonti’s blog on the Eagles to compare and of course comment-comment-comments are always appreciated.

–as one small note outside of football, I see no one has made any comments on Dallas QB Tony Romo coming to the aid of a Dallas motorist whom had a flat-tire.  The story goes that Romo stopped and helped a lady change her tire which gets him two pats on the back from me.  Good work Tony, keep it up and bring it with you to work Monday night.  I know where I will be along with I hope everyone who reads this.  Go COWBOYS!!!!!!!!!!

Will be an interesting match that is forsure and one of us will be doing some gloating Tuesday that is forsure. As far as Felix goes, I like him a little more in run situations than as a blocking back as he is certainly smaller than Barber. What I do like about Felix is his speed and acceleration which I hope gets you some fantasy points….giddy-up, good luck to the both of us and at worst, lets hope it is an exciting game….

No offense Glenn, but I hope that the eagles have a lot!

We are all allowed to voice our opinion but you didn’t say why you thought they were going down.

This game could go either way. Outside of Ware, James, & Hamlin on defense I don’t see right now where we can’t exploit them. Yes I know they have Owens and Witten but we can also roll out probably the best DB’s they will see all year.

We will see if Owens and Witten can carry the offense with a banged up Barber.

Also while L.J. Smith is no Winslow and maybe covered by Ellis. Smith has 1 thing Winslow does not have and that is speed. Smith has not had the serious knee issues Winslow has had that took his speed away.

This might be to me one of the more interesting match ups this game has.

Eagles bring the pressure D to Big D. If the Eagles are to win this game it will be because of their defense. Tony Romo will have to be under pressure all night for the Eagles to pull this one out. The Cowboys can gun with the best of them. This could be a shootout.

agreed Femi, this game could be one of two senerios (I know this will sound like a weather report) but either one of the teams D shows up and it becomes a battle in the trenches and or it becomes a shoot-out and no D making it a wide open affair and well we will not find out until late Monday night. stayed tuned but from all this feedback, I know TV ratings will be at an all time high Monday night during this game….

I love the feedback and well I honestly think TO could play with his shirt off and still be one of the top performers on the field. Shirt on or off TO is TO and will rock Philly in wearing his Dallas star with pride. I was out tonight and talking about this game and although a lot are looking highly with the Eagles this year, I just do not see many holes in the Cowboys and if one Cowboy does not show up, there could be as many as 2-3-4 to help ease the pain so look for a Cowboy win but still thinking it could be close especially if McNabb and Westbrook are on the same page…..see ya all tomorrow….’Stantsy’

I agree and the game is in Dallas and we know they are never short of attractive cheerleaders…..would be a nice half-time show….maybe throw in one Jessica Simpson who by the way had some funny Tony Romo stuff to say on a late night show the other night…..almost game time…..
