DOLPHINS VS CARDINALS PREVIEW

After a close loss to the New York Jets, the Miami Dolphins look to put that behind them against the upstart Arizona Cardinals. Easier said that done against a Cardnials team that is good on both sides of the ball.
On defense the Cards play a 4-3 scheme and are very fast as witnessed last Sunday in San Francisco. They also can create turnovers as they are NFL best +5 net turnover after week one. In order to minimize this the Dolphins must run the ball effectively with Ronnie Brown and Ricky Williams. Out of the gates the run game needs to be established and the Dolphins need go with the hot runner whether it be Brown or Williams.
On offense the Cards are lethal and the Dolphins defense will need to limit the big plays, because the Cards will score but Miami must keep it to a minimum. The next big thing is putting pressure on Kurt Warner. This is one thing the Dolphins did effectively last week against Brett Favre. Its even more important this week, since Warner is one of the worst under pressure and extremely immobile. He will turnover the ball easily, and this needs to be exploited.
So my keys to victory, which is very unlikely to happen: 1. Run, run, and run the ball. 2. Blitz and bring pressure on Warner. 3. Yet again special teams, somebody needs to wake up Tedd Ginn (is anyone home?)
Put all this together and the Dolphins will need some bounces and best effort of the season against the playoff bound NFC West Champion. I will take the Cards in this one 27-14. Enjoy the games.

I agree with your prediction.
I am impressed with the Dolphins defense though. I thought that they would be awful, but in week 1 they looked good. This, of course, is coming after only 1 week, but I may be right, when I predicted the Dolphins to upset some good teams this year.

I agree Lee, I said the same thing that they will suprise this year. Lets hope the defense can keep it going.

Do they have the tools on offense to have a succesful year or will it still be a stuggle at times while getting better ?

Good question James. Cards feed off the homecrowd. Miami cant allow a fast start for AZ, otherwise it is going to be a long day.

According to Ben Volin of the Palm Beach Post, the agent for Cardinals receiver Anquan Boldin has said twice in the last eight days that Boldin would like to play for the Miami Dolphins.
The comments from agent Drew Rosenhaus came during guest spots on The Joe Rose Show.

Arghhhh…..I just ordered a Boldin jersey! As if! I know my brother would love Boldin in Miami. He lives there in the offseason too.

That would be awesome Boldin in a Dolphins jersey next year. Even though he is out of FSU that would be a huge addtion.

James I think the will struggle a bit on offesive for the first few weeks and then should get into a rhythm. Its all about the running game, if that gets going they will be fine.

I too was impressed with the Dolphins defense. I wonder if you feel that the Jets game was indicitive of how much the Dolphins have improved, or how little the Jets have, even with their off-season additions.

Jets are little overrated in my mind but they will get better with time!

I agree with you Kev, Jets are a little overrated. See what happens against the Pats this week, it will tell us a little more.
September 13th, 2008 at 6:14 pm
I am still in the line of thinking that the Pats are not going to be as bad as many are saying, and that the Jets are not as good as many are saying. I’d bet the Pats with a 10+ point win.

True! You might be right on the money!

Can’t see the Pats winning by that much on the road. This one will be decided by a field goal. Still think the Pats are overrated, they should have lost to KC at home last week. Come on.
