Clearer Picture in the East

If they haven’t proved it already, yesterday was a sure indication that the Montreal Alouettes are the team to beat in the CFL’s Eastern Division, smashing the second place Toronto Argonauts 45-19. The Als now extend their lead a top the east division to 6 pts over the struggling Argos, who have now surely hit the panic button on their season.
The Toronto Argonauts may still make the playoffs but that is only because Hamilton and Winnipeg are terrible. The Argos have definitely hit the panic button on their season and it appears as though they will try and bring in different people over the next or so to get the ship sailing in the right direction. An executive from the Argos organization confirmed to me after the game that the boatmen have indeed offered a very rich contract to Former Roughrider and Indianapolis Colts running back Kenton Keith. It is a deal that would see Keith become the highest paid running back in the league. I also had a chance to speak to Argonaut C.E.O Mike “Pinball” Clemons who didn’t say he has been offered the head coaching job but didn’t say he wasn’t. The way he made it sound is that he has been offered Rich Stubler’s job but the former head coach doesn’t want his old job back and is more then happy with his current position with the team.Â
Â
As For the Als, everything is perfect right now. Even with the league’s top running back Avon Cobourne out of the lineup yesterday, Mike Imoh stepped in and did a great job at tail back. Everything went right for the Als yesterday who could have scored 50 points if Damon Duval wouldn’t have missed two long field goals in the 1st quarter. The Als will now travel to Calgary, to play the Stampeders at McMahon Stadium on Friday night.
Â
Breaking News: TSN.CA is reporting that the Hamilton Tiger Cats have fired head coach Charlie Taafe. Taafe will be replaced by current offensive coordinator Marcel Bellefeuille.

Joey,
With all due respect, if you’re going to say that an Argo executive told you something, reveal his name because there isn’t a single media outlet that isn’t saying that Keith is not in the Argos picture.

Als looked outstanding again yesterday. I was very impressed with their performance, I assumed the Argos would throw everything they had at them, clearly that wasn’t nearly enough.
Calvillo has been absolutely amazing this season and Kerry Watkins continues to impress.
Where do you think they rank amongst the West teams?

Dave, Everyone knows he was in the picture I agree but I was specificaly told not to give his name, can’t go against his wishes sorry and Just to throw out extra information to the readers, the deal will be worth somewhere in the 200 000$ range.
Nich, I think the Als could potential be beat by any team in the west but I think that they can beat anyone in the west aswell. I can honestly say that the Montreal Alouettes would be the first or second place team if they were in the western division.
