I think him not wanting be somebody’s backup and maybe showcase himself if he were pressed into duty didnt suit him.
In my opinion also he started this when he forced his way out of minnesota.

Let’s not sugar coat it. Culppepper isn’t the same QB we saw in Minnesota. His mobility has gone south, and he has an increasingly hard time holding on to the ball. I don’t think there was major interest by any teams for a number one spot. Speculation was that Green Bay was interested a few months ago, but that being said, I think your bang on James. At this point, I’m not sure Daunte was ready to prove himself, put himself through camp and stay in shape, with a back up QB promise.
Being a lifelong cheese head, I know for a fact the guy gave us nightmares every time we played him. I have great memories of watching the guy play. He was electric to watch, and got his “roll” on better than anyone I can think of…
You will be missed, but it was time…
