Week #1 Predictions

Before I make note of whats going on in the Raider Nation, I would like to start a new tradition here at STB.
I am going to predict the winners of every game each week, and see how accurate I can be for the year. There will be no point spread, because they don’t get a point spread on the field, so why shoud we in the betting world? I encourage all of you to follow along each week, and make your own predictions. At the end of the year, tally up your correct and incorrect picks, as I will, and see how you faired against my total. I will have to warn you in advance though, I keep myself very up to date with whats going on in the league, and my predictions should be quite accurate. So without further or due!!!
Washington Redskins @ New York Giants: Lees pick; Washington
The Giants started last year slowly, and that was with Usi, Michael, and Gibril, so my guess is that the Redskins will be the stronger team. Plus, Superbowl hangovers are really tough!
Seattle Seahawks @ Buffalo Bills: Lees pick; Buffalo
The Seahawks are flying to the other side of the country with a banged up recieving core, and they are playing a Bills team that is always tough at home.
Detroit Lions @ Atlanta Falcons: Lees pick; Detroit
The Lions started the season last year with 4 straight wins before they sank to 7-9. They will start this year strong again, expecially playing against the all new Falcons.
Cincinnati Bengels @ Baltimore Ravens: Lees pick; Cincinnati
The Bengels still have a poor defense, but when you are playing against a rookie QB and a rookie RB, you don’t need to be that good.
St Louis Rams @ Philadelphia Eagles: Lees pick; Philadelphia
No contest here. My guess is that the Eagles will distroy the Rams.
Houston Texans @ Pittsburgh Steelers: Lees pick; Pittsburgh
Houston is an improving team, but the Steelers are a very good team. There will be some concern on the offensive line for the Steelers, but not enough to loose to the Texans.
Jacksonville Jaguars @ Tennessee Titans: Lees pick; Jacksonville
I believe that the Jags will be one of the best teams in the league this year. The Titans will need to see a lot more improvement fron Vince Young and his recieving core. Tough opening week loss for the Titans.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers @ New Orleans Saints: Lees pick; New Orleans
I said that the Saints will be the class of the NFC South, and in order for them to prove that, they must first beat the current class of the NFC South. They will start the season off, on a much different note from last year.
Kansas City Chiefs @ New England Patriots: Lees pick; New England (Duh)
Are you kidding me??? I would bet my wife and kids on this one! Well… maybe not, but I would bet a heak of a lot. The rebuilding Chiefs are going to be crushed, with or without a healthy Brady.
New York Jets @ Miami Dolphins: Lees pick; New York
I had a very hard time with this one. I could very easily see the Dolphins win this one, and if the running game is in full swing, and the defense holds up, they will. However, there are just too many questionmarks with this team, and my gutt says, stick to logic.
Arizona Cardinals @ San Fransisco 49ers: Lees pick; Arizona
The O’Sullivan era begins! Sorry San Fran!
Carolina Panthers @ San Diego Chargers: Lees pick; San Diego
There are a lot of injury concerns in San Diego, but even still, Carolina without Steve Smith, is nothing more then average. If that. This week we will get a good look at just how banged up the Chargers really are.
Dallas Cowboys @ Cleveland Browns: Lees pick; Dallas
I was very tempted to take the Browns as my week 1 upset, but again, my gutt tells me to stick to logic. With Andersons health as a concern, and whether or not last year was a fluke, this team will be quite the quandry early on.
Chicago Bears @ Indianapolis Colts: Lees pick; Indianapolis
Payton Manning with one leg and a blindfold on, would still help win this game for the Colts. I don’t see him missing a beat, and I don’t see the Bears anywhere near the Colts class.
Minnesota Vikings @ Green Bay Packers: Lees pick; Green Bay
This will be the most exciting game of the week, and the most watched. Everyone is saying that the Vikings are going to be the class of the NFC North, and this is their week to prove it. I said that the Packers will be even better this year with Aaron Rodgers as the starting QB, and I am not about to change my mind on that. Get ready for Packers fans chanting “BRETT WHO?????”………Hows that for bold?
Denver Broncos @ Oakland Raiders: Lees pick; Oakland
Run run run run run run run run run run run run run run run run run run run……etc! This will not be a game of the long ball.
Since we ended with the Raiders, lets take a look at what is going on in Oakland. As I predicted, the Raiders final roster was already changed, as they went out and signed former Bronco/Falcon/49er WR Ashley Lelie and FB Luke Lawton. I did say that the Raiders would release a LB and a DB, but I don’t get full marks, because they released LB Robert Thomas, and DE William Joseph.
Thomas was released after an injury settlement. The depth at LB for the Raiders is quite impressive and it looks like Thomas was the odd man out. He will get healthy and find a new home easily.
In other Raiders news WR Javon Walker is proving already to continue with his injury woes. He is said to have strained his hamstring, and his status for week 1 is unknown. It’s too bad that he might not play against his former team, but preventing further injury should be priority number one for Coach Kiffin and the Raiders staff. If he does play, don’t put him in you fantasy lineup, because his name still will not be called on a lot.
The Raiders host the Broncos on Monday night football @ 10:15pm ET, in what will be the first Monday night football doubleheader. The other game will be the Vikings @ the Packers, so make sure that you clear your schedule on monday, because its going to be one heak of a night!
Send some comments about my picks, and we can engage in a battle of the minds!
Also be sure to follow along with your picks, to see if you have what it takes to be an NFL analyst!
I will have my Post game report out by Tuesday night.
Let the season begin!!!!!!!!!!………………….finally!
