WEEK 1 PREVIEW OF MIAMI DOLPHINS

Well a new season is upon us, and I can’t wait till Sunday’s kickoff.  This year will at least be better for the Miami Dolphins having made some good changes in the off season both coaching and roster.

The Dolphins get to open up the season at home against Brett Favre and the New York Jets.  This should be a great game to watch with Chad Pennington up against his former team.  Pennington and the Dolphins looked good in the preseason and should be able to keep this game close.  Ricky Williams is looking like the Ricky of old and the defense is starting to gel.

Something new I will be doing this year is my key’s to victory each week.  This week the Dolphins will need to do the following: 1.  Ball control with Ricky and good completion percentage by Pennington.  2.  Defense needs to put pressure on Favre and stop the run, something they could not do last season. 3.  Special teams, Ted Ginn needs to keep up his great returns from the pre-season over to the regular season in order to get good field position and shorten the field for the offense.  If the Dolphins can do all of this I am looking for a 24-21 Dolphins victory.

This will be an interesting season for the Dolphins with a lot of changes, but they have started to build something special and I think they will get 6 wins this year but could suprise with a possible wild card birth. If Ricky and Ronnie play great while rushing for over 1000 yards each, and of course Chad Pennington stays healthy/consistent, but what teams success doesn’t fall on the health of their QB, Miami could very well surprise.  That might sound crazy to most people, but remember you heard it here first!

Let the countdown to kickoff begin.

What are your hopes for the dolphins record this year ?

Ya know, I could honestly see Miami pulling this one off. Call me crazy, but I have a feeling Favre gets off to a rough start with the Jets, and Miami will take it to the young, somewhat inexperienced defense of New York.

Ricky and Ronnie, what a great one-two punch. There will never be those tired legs that most number one backs experience!

You know with the mentality of Pennington, that the Dolphins will be in most games and the ones they arent, they will fight tooth and nail to the last whistle.

Tim I agree Miami can run the ball and Jets are not very good against the run, if they can keep Brett of the field for extended periods maybe steal this game.

    Tim,
Glad to see someone agrees with me. Miami will suprise, I truly believe that.

God point Kev, another reason to like the Dolphins this year.

    Terry,
Right on about the Jets, hopefully Ricky can pull it off.

If a team can keep Brady off the field for an extended by running the ball, then the Dolphins sure can do the same with Favre! I agree boys!

Miami is heading in the right direction, but to think that they could pull off a wildcard is a little bit too much of wishfull thinking.
They will no doubt get better, but I would guess 4-6 wins.
They also have to play the Raiders, so that will hurt their chances for a win :)

I do however think they have a good chance to beat the Jets.

Who knows the AFC has some very good team they could push for it if some breaks go there way, I’d think more along the 5 to 7 wins though,

Dolphins deserved much better today. If they had of got the running game going, who knows?
