Pats release two more: Lynch and Jackson

The Patriots made two roster moves this afternoon that will catch many off guard. The Patriots released 36-year old safety John Lynch after the veteran had spent just over three weeks with the club. Lynch who was going to be more of a package player with Brandon Merriweather and Rodney Harrison starting at safety was evidently expendable. The Pats also announced the release of receiver Chad Jackson. Jackson, a 2006 draft pick out of Florida, had seven receptions for 66 yards and two touchdowns in the preseason.
These moves seem to indicate Bill Belichick’s level of satisfaction with the clubs 0-4 preseason performance. With the release of Lynch the whispers of New England bringing Ty Law back to the fold will grow. Ty, who was part of all three of the Patriots Super Bowl seasons would be a quick study of the Patriots defense. It is also possible that the Patriots are planning to bring Lynch back to the fold after week 1. Right now his contract is guaranteed, after the start of the season that will change. Remember it’s a business and a game.
Stay tuned.

I really thought Lynch could fit in and do well in N.E. Hopefully he gets back with the team like you mentioned.

In today’s game if a team can put themselves in a siutation that they don’t have to give out a guaranteed they won’t.
After week 1 he will be back, his experience will help for when they plan on using him.
